Real quality. Who says the SPL is a pub league.

No one should say that. It's only two years since the SPL were represented in the final of the Europa League.

Some good news for Scottish football in that Aberdeen have moved off the bottom of their conference league group. They have better goal difference than the mighty HJK Helsinki and have a massive 1 point from 3 games just like Celtic. Real quality. Who says the SPL is a pub league.

Up to eight players could leave Celtic during the January transfer window after manager Brendan Rodgers suggested the Scottish champions have too many senior players on their books. (The Scotsman)

Cheers Asagi, I'll sleep better tonight, now if you can make the oil price rise $2 from current level by close of play tomorrow, it'll be most welcome (WTI currently $83.50)

correct, MickinVest, I have edited my post above. You called the Atletico outcome better than anyone else and are clearly the man we should all be listening to.

Taylor's attempt to defend the offside goal when he was easily brushed aside in the air is unacceptable at CL level. He gives 100% and acceptable as back up but never a defender.

Think we have a chance, no doubt UEFA are going to try everything to throw the book at us but hopefully holding 10k Palestinian flags to walk on is no different to holding Ukrainian flags

My take on Lazio game!

We were close tonight, if Maeda hadn't touched the ball then Palma's goal would have stood and we may have won.

We need an actual defender at left back, we can't keep kidding on Taylor can float about and do 5 yard passes backwards, we need someone like Johnston on the left. Yang was poor and Bernardo also when he came on but we're not far away. It was obvious like every team in the SPFL, Lazio targeted balls inside Taylor all night from 1st minute.

Was it just me or was Greg Taylor at fault for both goals?

dunno but brilliant pass for Maeda for Celtic's second.

Note that only MickinVest expressed any faith in Celtic getting something last night, evincing his superior football acumen over the naysayers wrtmf and Kev0856153.

Agree about O'Riley. He is class. The midfield trio are premiership quality with Macgregor and Hatate.
What about Scalesy? Now an Irish international and hardly put a foot wrong last night.

Was it just me or was Greg Taylor at fault for both goals? The penalty obviously but I thought he should have charged the guy about to make the cross for the 2nd goal. Instead he dropped back.

not a poor result at all Kev0856153, they've just taken a point off a Pot 2 team. The bad result was failing to close out a draw against Lazio, instead we got all this cry-baby stuff about 'heartbreaking late goal'.

Scoring goals but letting soft ones in.

The business model is evinced. Promise players Champions League football. Get them in the shop window. Prove their value. Sell them.

Furuhashi and O'Riley both substantially advanced their market value last night. Great result for shareholders.

Yes its a very poor result again but much better than I was expecting. At least we have a chance of making 3rd spot something of a fight. Well until the next match anyway.

I made the mistake of thinking this time Celtic could hold onto a lead. I mean you think by the law of averages they will do it eventually but alas they always revert to type. I've seen the team give up a 3 goal lead in Milan to lose 5-3. I've seen them give up a 2-0 lead in Lens. What about the 2-1 lead in Leipzig with 10 minutes left which turned into a defeat. There is no club in world football more inept at holding onto a lead than Celtic.

However there are actually sides in this season's Champions League who are worse than us.

Champions league week again and I'm not looking forward to it because we are going to lose again. It's Athletico Madrid at fortress (lol) Celtic Park on Wednesday.

My prediction

Celtic 1 Athletico 3

I just hope it's not any worse than that.

I wonder how Brendan Rogers views these matches since his record in Europe is absolutely desperate.

I don't even feel bad about tonight. I just don't care anymore and I know loads of Celtic fans who feel the same way. They've totally given up on Europe. We'll just collect the cash and move onto the next match.
