Up we go again.

I've just booked a bargain QM2 cruise from Sydney to Singapore, a third of the world cruise. Only 2 cabins available - but that may be bs from the ta. Flights on QATAR from 6 mile taxi drive away, supposed to be great according to the lady selling it! 31 nights, exactly the max number of days the travel insurance is valid for without paying extra. In Feb, so gets away from the cold (hey, it's still cold in feb - this catastrophic global warming is taking its time) and gets back for mar, which is a great month in england. Uses my last cunard future cruise deposit - the validity runs out soon. Altogether everything slots in very nicely.

And we'll return to a 25/35 quid ccl price i expect.

Anyone on here doing the QM world cruise?

I used to be in the Merchant Navy, so looking forward to being on a working ship. And get lots of video footage in the ports.

Rule nr 1 for us - avoid school holidays!

That way, you see less feral kids, but the ones taken out of school for term time cruises are more feral! With p&o, it varies by boat. None on brittania, a few on iona - not enough to spoil it for me. No idea what it much be like on those ships with dodgems, water shutes, bingo palaces etc.

If kids are a problem (and they're not for us) there are always adult only areas to escape to.

On one short cunard cruise, there was a stag party on board! I think cunard have put a stop to that. Didn't go down too well at all.

Hurtegruten sounds great visiting 60 places or whatever. Except it's all through the night, which puts us off. They are working ships of course, not just cruise ships. Interesting to read your report on that.

We noticed it on our 2 back2back cruises. There was a different clientele on both cruises. It was half term (UK) the 2nd week and the "crowd" were generally a lot younger. We described it as Butlins at sea! We booked through Bolsover and it was a bargain £1250 each including all transfers, balcony cabin plus 3 nights in a 5 star hotel in Valletta. Our next Cruise is Hurtigruten in November.
