On the subject of NHS,
It has to deal with long term smokers and all that worked in bad environments eg Asbestos and other long term poisons like farm sprays ect.
Now smoking is not illegal and is taxed highly thus funding some of the NHS
Why not legalise dope and reap the taxes from sales this alone would most likely fund the NHS on it own.
At the end of the day dope will be sold and smoked ect, we pay police to arrest and then let go 99% of the participants costing time and money.

EJ - so people who are basically complaining about the NHS are saying go and work in a private healthcare system in the USA?

I assume, from the tone of his remarks about pensioners wrecking the NHS (without any explanation of how) and being a Corbynite Labour supporter, that Ball deap is a very young wet-behind-the-ears person. It is good to know that the future of the country is
in such capable thoughtful hands.

I am in my sixties and am bombarded by
Letters from my GP to come in and have this checked and that checked.
I feel fine in myself and am generally quite fit.
Why is it necessary that I have these tests to find something wrong with me when I feel fine.
Is my blood pressure normal , my cholesterol likewise.
Leave me alone , I am a grown up and decide if something is wrong.
Why should I cost the NHS money if I am fit. A lot of my chums come back from a check up and end up taking pills for this and that and then decide to stop taking them as they make no difference.
I am aging but leave me alone , when my time is up , it is up
Don't keep me alive for that sake of it.
Quality of life is my only concern.
When that goes , so do I

This was in the John Radcliffe in the middle of Oxford. Although you will perceive Oxford as a very 'white' place, actually there are large immigrant communities in the poorer areas of the city.

I work in Pharma and travel all over the world seeing the healthcare systems in different countries. There is absolutely no doubt that the major problem in the NHS is underfunding. We spend 8% of GDP on healthcare whereas France and Germany and other major civilised countries in Europe spend 10%. When you go to these other countries, the U.K. is a laughing stock because of our chronic under funding and subsequent rationing of healthcare.

But keep on pedaling the 'immigrants are the problem' line. As I say don't let the truth get in th way of a good story.....

A&E was clean and tidy and wellOrganised. You cannot fault the Japanese healthcare system which is also one of the cheapest in the world.

How can anyone control a budget of £150bn and 1.40 million employees?
Health ministers are amateurs with very little experience.
An impossible task.

It is nationalised which means it has political importance.
Elections can be lost if you get this wrong.
Corbyn promises to throw even more cash at it.

Most impressed with the treatment that ill people I know have received at the end of their lives.
Close relatives work in the health service and seem dedicated.

Don't be conned by the news headlines and propaganda.
Most people are treated very well.
What is your own experience?

#11601 Ball deap. You need to go visit an A & E if you don't think foreign visitors and immigrants are not a major part of the problem.

The entire remuneration committees setup within Plc casino markets is the problem...that needs an urgent overhaul...thay are all in each others remuneration committees...in other words they all approve their own salary packages/bonuses/expenses/share options etc etc in a round about way...
