09/1/2020 14:06 | people will buy a card even if they do not buy a gift . if aldi put in cards they will only have one section . perhaps 50 designs if that . a card shop has many hundreds. the advantage of selling cards to the supermarkets is it increases their turnover at virtually no cost other than printing , and produces a profit. Say 50 designs 24 of each =1200 cards . assume 20p profit per card = £240 per store . aldi has 800 stores so first order =192k profit . say they repeat twice a month profit = 24 x 192k pa . lidl have been trying out cards as well but only have about 15 designs and with another card company . Matalan have 200 stores so first order produces 50 k approx. . aldi turnover of cards would be much higher than Matalan because it has a much higher customer flow and repeat purchases several times a week. | ![]() haroldthegreat | |
