Dreamy is a Walter Mitty. Opened a short on VRS at ~60p and got closed out for not meeting a margin call when it hit the 80s at the end of last week. So yes, he is finished! Imagine opening a short when the share price had hit the 50% retrace and announcement of UK government help with foreign governments for sales and expansion. He then shorted it at £1,000 a penny on the SP, you can't make up that level of stupidity.........except Dreamy knew better. But then again he thought time was spelt 'tyme'! Lol

Could be worse, they could be shorting this from 122p from post rights issue. Wouldn't put it past Dreamtwister after shorting VRS from ~60p!

Some of the questions on here make for worrying reading. People that don't have a basic grasp of financial matters, rights issues etc. investing their hard-earned cash.

Yes, I sent back my offer letter almost straight away with option 2 ticked, and the guy on the phone confirmed it was received before the May 18 deadline.

Signal Shares appear to administer shares on behalf of Capita so that might make sense with the dividend you mentioned but I'm not sure that they sell shares or sell the rights for Capita. I know I could have instructed my share dealing service to sell the rights and the proceeds would have been available in the share dealing account. I really hope your rights didn't expire because if this occurs while the rights holder may get some of the proceeds, I understand that commission and admin charges would apply. Unless these guys acted on your instruction to sell, this won't work out great for you. Let us know what happened for sure!

Ah right, just spoke to someone on the contact number on the Capita share webpage (aka Signal Shares) and the price will be whatever it was at the time they were sold and will be paid as a cheque to arrive next Tuesday or Wednesday, which is odd as (a) how do they know when my bunch of shares were sold and at what price out of the millions traded and (b) why can't they pay it into my bank a/c directly just as they do for dividends?
Hey ho, I'll let you know when the cheque arrives and for what price.
I see CPI is at 144 at present. Could've doubled my money in the blink of an eye if I'd coughed up the 14 hundred quid or so necessary to buy the rights issue shares!

Well malc_p, The rights were trading just like shares under the CPIN code so it all depends on what price they were when the sale took place. They started trading around 53p, went as high as 70p last Friday and finished trading yesterday 24th at 0665p. They are no longer trading of course. There should be a record on your account. There should also be a contract note generated.

Yes I understand I won't have the new shares as I "sold" the rights (I'll still have just the 1309 shares), I was wondering which share price would be used to determine how much CPI would pay me for those rights. I imagine the cash will be credited to the bank account the registrars have on file for me (i.e. where I get the dividends paid to). There's no credit (pending or otherwise) showing in that account as at 3pm today.

malc-p I’m not sure exactly what your query is but if you sold the rights at the prevailaing price, then that cash should be showing in you cash balance. The old shares and new shares have an equal value and are trading from 8am this morning so they are currently trading at 141p but you won’t have any new shares since you sold your entitlement to these nil paid shares. So your 1309 would currently have a value of around £1,845.69 and the proceeds of you selling your rights should show as cash in your account.

OK so a stupid question from a mere public pleb who used to work for Capita and bought shares via the company ShareSave scheme.
Over my time (2006 to 2012) I bought 1309 shares in total at I think an average of about £6.50 and have seen them reach £13.40 and drop to £1.20 or so :-(
So, I got the offer letter for NPRs to the tune of 1964 shares, and I decided to take the money by selling all the rights; at what point in time does the share price that the value is calculated against get implemented? (And yes I understand the value will be this amount less 70p) At 8.a.m. today? At close of business today? Or when? I can't seem to find this info anywhere...

Ta!

Hi Dreamy, how much damage did that short do? £1,000 a penny on the share price wasnt it from the low 60s? I make that ~£20,000 loss by the time you got closed out for margin inadequacies? Thats got to hurt.

I agree with 1retirement. It could go up, or it could go down. I also have a theory that it might stay the same.
