Took some at 659 thanks to your prompting dp ;0) Always seems strange buying shares on such an awful day but there we are. I held a few years ago and am glad to be back in here.

I'm waiting for the day, which will come, when BUR is seen as a risk-off stock.

@donald you have seen what is going on in Ukraine right? BUR has held up pretty well compared to a lot of stocks.

We've had 2 positive judgments reported this week (Steinhoff and the LaSalle securities cases), press indications that Sundance may be reaching a very positive conclusion, a very bullish note from Numis and news that Argentina is close to finalising a $45bn IMF loan. And yet the share price is languishing. Absolutely crazy.

Courts are up and running again. I think 2021 Q3 and Q4 should habe been back to normal or close to it. Courts have adapted.

I am starting to worry about the effect of COVID delays a bit. The Seeking Alpha thesis uses the old ~ 30% IRR, 2.3 years WAL (1.6 years for settlements) numbers - but we had two years of COVID delays now, so these figures must be getting worse at some point?

Seb Maril postConstant theme buildingJudicial setback for YPF in the Maxus Energy case. - Court of Appeals of the Third Circuit rejects the request of the Argentine oil company and Repsol to suspend the case in the Loss Court. - This guarantees a Summary Judgment from the month of June.

Hi Donald,

Thanks for the info. One point I would make is that YPF's calculation, assuming it's completely impartial which ofc it very much isn't, ignores any further award the Judge might see fit to put on top. Argentina/YPF if found guilty, the Judge may also seek to discourage this type of gross misbehaviour and dragging the case out for nine years by slapping them with punitive damages.

I love the 100% of our clients were successful with their applications. Intimation point being other claimants lost because their representatives did a lesser job on preparation and checking than Burford. You can trust us to prepare your case and we will deliver. The bank of good news getting stronger and stronger as is cash incoming.

Posted on LSE Today thank you for sharing Sundance Resources updateToday 08:34I saw the article below about Cameroon formally giving Sundance Resources assets away (for those who aren't aware, we are funding Sundance's $8b claim. The penultimate paragraph caught my attention: "According to sources close to the case, the Chinese consortium has expressed its will to bear the cost of a possible conciliation between Sundance and the State of Cameroon. Such an arrangement could cost a similar amount to the US$8.76 billion (XAF4.7 trillion) of damages the Australian firm is claiming from Congo [Ed.note: the Mbalam-Nabeba iron project is estimated to cost XAF5.5 trillion]."This is what I thought might be the case. Cameroon/Congo said to the Chinese entities - you can have the mining permits but you have to cover the costs of settling. We don't know what the terms of the financing are, but if Burford gets 20-30% of a settlement worth billions it would be a good payday.https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.businessincameroon.com/index.php/mining/2502-12360-mbalam-ore-autsino-and-bestway-get-closer-to-taking-over-sundance-s-mining-assets/ampReplyRecommend (2)Report Post

I've also been wondering whether the uncovering of hidden Russian assets could also be an opportunity for both Burford and PCB, or wether it would be a conflict of interest

Not wishing to be a prat, but all these sanctions and asset freezing orders could cause a lot of legal actions down the line. And a lot of people might not have the assets to fund them, so could be an opportunity for Burford
