Have the courage of your knowledge and experience. If you have formed a conclusion from the facts and if you know your judgement is sound, act on it, even though others may hesitate or differ. You are neither right nor wrong because the crowd disagrees with you. You are right because your data and reasoning are right. Similarly, in the world of securities, courage becomes the supreme virtue after adequate knowledge and a tested judgment are at hand. - Ben Graham.Let's see what next week bringsGood luck to all long term holders.

Funny that the Times article was the only one to present real facts.

Unnerving facts for some too

The chances of me being linked to market manipulation are non existent. Zero.

It was the sheer stupidity of TW under the bed spotter johnwig's post. You don't have a picture of his aunt, do you?

Anyway, £2 is about where I hear BUR will end up. Don't blame me, Mr Valentine has set the price.

bbms, your recent outburst of swearing is at odds with your posting history. What was it in particular that led to the profanities and aggressive attitude? Are you feeling a bit ‘edgy’ about the possibility of getting linked to the market manipulation charges??

Actually, this company is cess pit HQ now. I issued a decree.

Perhaps TW, and all his cronies, will eventually just crawl back to the WPCT thread, which seems to be cess pit HQ.

Or Curt announcement after having already left = Resigned in disgust and had already packed bags and gone before an RNS could be released.

MF,

When she has left those others have the board publicly thanked her and wished her well or has there just been a curt announcement after she has left?

Though until her current role she spent 2 years in each job she had, including BUR. So nothing unusual at all.

gal,

Since Miriam left the CFO post at BUR, it has been like the Defence Against the Dark Arts post at Hogwarts.

I am sure Miriam would have a very interesting story to tell.

SK2:

No idea about the Napo matter but I have to say that Miriam Connole was and is obviously streets ahead of Ms O'Connell and Mr Kilman in experience and suitability for the job as CFO. Burford seem to have been deliberately downgrading the skills and experience toolkit seen as needed for the key CFO job at the same time they claim to be powering the business ahead at a tremendous pace. That seems to be an obvious and contradictory nonsense in business terms and, imo, is in itself something that ought to be very concerning, whether or not there turns out to be anything in the various allegations that have been mentioned in the last two weeks.

The more important question is what will BUR's response be to this:

If there was another case which Napo won I can't believe it has not come to light already.

The incentive to book a bogus return was immense and the collusion of Woody and Barney in the whole thing seems highly likely IMHO.

This is the lose thread that when pulled makes the whole thing unravel IMHO. The only question is how quickly will that unravel occur?

It has already taken longer than the Globo unravel (would have been dead last Mon and buried less than a month later on those timescales) but will it take as long as QPP?

Will Miriam Connole keep schtum or will she cut a deal?

I can't read the insider trading accusation as it is behind a paywall, but any purchase has to be approved by the board and Nomad, so I am sure it is OK.

The bigger concern is all the trades that were placed in the 3 minutes before the MW tweet. I expect, given the high profile of this case, that those will end in lengthy prison sentences and an examination of how the people responsible have earned their money in life generally. If I was a behavioural expert I might speculate that evasion and trying to accuse others of your own crime is a common sign of guilt.
