1oughton, I’ve decided to just be a ballboy. Involved in the match, but expressing no opinion.

I suspect the “right” answer is somewhere between the two positions stated so far. Mark to market of esoteric assets can often be argued about from extreme viewpoints. Same happened to “correlation” assets in 2009 in banks. No one went bust because of it although significant capital was tied up for some time.

Suspect that BUR has some lawyers with better legal qualifications than Mr Block (anyone ever heard of Chicago-Kent College of Law?)

I a contest of who can write the best report and based on the evidence I have seen so far, Burford will win hands down.

Words will count for everything here. And Block seems to be rather an amateur wordsmith

would be folly if muddywaters to attempt to riposte there's some very very school boy errors in there thesis they should have talked it through with company if they were honest Took advantage of summer holiday lull, Woodford sentiment, media outreach

Unless MW has evidence of fraud there really isn't any response to that rebuttal. Amy attempt to argue those points will look desperate. The only weakness for BUR is the valuation of Peterson. MW don't have that information. BUR have no obligation to give it and, in any case, it's subjective. Who knows the value of that case best? Certainly not MW.

Game over for MW unless they have proof of fraud.

A pretty good rebuttal for once and good to see they have dropped the legal threats nonsense.

The only key point not addressed is the potential contingent liabilities, which are conveniently glossed over as ongoing case can't discuss.

MW will strike back but will probably wait for directors to buy and that to have its effect, increase short position then Wham. On that basis probably nothing will be heard until next week, but who knows.

Definitely one to watch from the sidelines.

None of the rebuttal changes my view that BUR fundamentally is not worth anything like the £3bn it was and the £1Bn it came down to was probably closer to the mark of what it should be valued at.

I make no predictions on where the share price will actually go.

You'd have to be idiotic to have sold off the back of that report - clearly twisitng the facts for their own agenda. I doubled my holding yesterday and just sold this half now for an instant 35% gain. The core holding I'll hold for the long term and confident it will eventually recover.

So the directors are saying they are going to buy big 4 of them and that the company itself is going to buy shares in the market as an investment etc...Aint they leaving it a bit late, at this rate the share price will be above where it all started from so will they still buy then?
