Elc - id happlily lend you my shares to fund your short :)

Sitting on 16x on first investment in Bur sold 50 percent reinvested in Mano did 2.5x so sitting on almost 50x

Beats shorting - best of luck with Bur but think there’s far better shorts out there - retail CRE is a no-brainier (and Intu hasn’t got a yield now so cheap to short)

Minerve plays his pipes on the Melrose board and most of the incumbents thoroughly enjoy his presence. If he didn't exist, they would most certainly invent him for their own entertainment.I quit the Melrose board simply because I became guilty ,like many others,of posting about anything but the company itself(which I still hold).Burford is at risk of becoming contentious. That's never good. What you want is a nice quiet board with a backcloth of a steadily rising share price.Beware of overly chatty boards....and with that I'll bid you farewell.I remain a holder.

It's not quite right is it? I may drop them a line. It is currently a fund and a fund management company rolled into one, but with the corporate governance of a typical offshore fund.

Yes MF, I flagged this earlier today, neither the CEO or CFO are plc board Directors, so they do not disclose.

In all the criticism I do think one point is worth raising. Although the main face of the company, I don't think we know anything about Bogart's remuneration. I think there are two obvious ways around this: the first is to put him, and Molot, and perhaps others, on the board. The other is to convert to a fund structure where Burford are appointed manager of the assets. Currently, it is really a fund structure - independent board, distinct management company - for an entity that is using its own balance sheet. It is unique, but I'm not convinced the corporate governance structure is quite as it should be.

So just bought 4500 this minute. If it dips further, I'll accept that. Never bought a share that never fell below by 'in' price

Brexit plus, it hasn't happened on this thread but I've watched others in the past were some guys keep 'topping up' on every share dip to the extent they must own 100% of the company by now. So I'm thinking of buying another 4400 shares at BUR later at around current price. Just keeping an eye on it for a bit longer.

I too would have some respect for the trolls if they said what they were buying in real time rather than much later and claiming credit. But of course they won’t.

Elcapital, profit while you can. Seems this misinfo last few days is blowing over and Arden have perhaps drawn a line under it. If the share price sticks around current level this afternoon I may buy some more as they look too cheap. But I will say on here how many I'm buying before I do, so there's proof. I don't personally give credence to those who say they've just topped up on shares when the price gets low.

Interestingly, its been said on here recently that various platforms such as IG dont have any BUR shares to short. Too few available. How do you manage it, or are you merely waiting to buy in once you think the share price has bottomed?

I hadn’t come across the following before described as

“The Burford Annual demonstrates what Burford’s 2018 business performance means for both our existing clients and for those considering how to approach legal finance.”

THE BURFORD ANNUAL Our business in 2018 and the state of legal finance

which is on the Insights page on the Burford website. It’s only 20 pages and is downloadable.

When I saw Bogart a month ago I quizzed him on Fund returns and he was at pains to explain that the fees are paid on a European waterfall basis. In other words, BUR gets minimal fees until the investors get their investment back, and then start getting their 20% performance fee. But the fees are very back-loaded. However, the Partners I Fund (iirc) is now in harvest mode and partners 2 invested in IP claims, which Bogart emphasised had the possibility of producing outsize returns, as you will usually be suing a big corporation for stealing your IP and the value of any reward can be significant. So while I don't think news on either Fund is imminent, you can add them to the list of positive newsflow for the future.

Actually the SWF funding was a positive in making available large amounts of capital but no one mentioned the dilution on returns. ;)

Keyno, I only ever bait complete cretins who wish brain tumours on people and similarly reprehensible behaviour. If you think that sort of behaviour is fair enough then that’s up to you.
