21/8/2018 13:38 | SP hasn't touched 200 day m/a for almost two years, and that was at almost 400p. And the moving averages are closer now than 3 years ago, so trend change is strengthening imo. So if your going to buy for long term nows your best shot imo | kmann
21/8/2018 13:14 | Happy yo hold, to be honest. See what happens in the long term. | richard4796
21/8/2018 12:42 | I have some below that price, I tend to buys when I feel a share it bottoming out in chunks and feel value anywhere below 2.50 as a long term investment. To me this is approx 5% income plus decent potential for capital growth. | fewdollarsmore
21/8/2018 12:20 | Added average now 258.77 down from 261.82 | smurfy2001
21/8/2018 10:52 | Not long ago Monty you were saying 192p, why the change? | toon1966
21/8/2018 10:47 | Wait for 205p even better. | montyhedge
21/8/2018 10:46 | I shall be accumulating BT under 2.50 as and when funds permit. You never catch the bottom but for me this is a good base to start building a position. | fewdollarsmore
21/8/2018 09:17 | Ham, thanks for posting the history of the ADR share price over the last 4 years. I would agree with you that BT looks very good value. | nige co
21/8/2018 08:19 | With sector rotation now gaining more acceptance as the next stage of this economic cycle. I wonder if buying into the telecoms in the US also includes buying BT ADR's? They certainly look good value with the BT share price down and the dollar up... See below for the approx buy rates in dollars for BT shares over the past 5 years: Sep-14 BT Share Price GBP - £3.98 USD/GBP rate - 1.63 BT Share Price USD - $6.49 Sep-15 BT Share Price GBP - £4.15 USD/GBP rate - 1.56 BT Share Price USD - $6.47 Sep-16 BT Share Price GBP - £3.90 USD/GBP rate - 1.3 BT Share Price USD - $5.07 Sep-17 BT Share Price GBP - £2.84 USD/GBP rate - 1.35 BT Share Price USD - $3.83 Current BT Share Price GBP - £2.26 USD/GBP rate - 1.28 BT Share Price USD - $2.89 So, looking very cheap if you have dollars to invest! I have also put in the price that would have been paid for BT shares in USD when BT shares hit their peak in Nov-15: Highest GBP share price over last 5 yrs (Nov-15) BT Share Price GBP - £4.99 USD/GBP rate - 1.27 BT Share Price USD - USD 6.34 | hamhamham1

20/8/2018 08:07 | One thing the markets don't like is uncertainty. It's getting really hard to see a positive outcome from the current Brexit path. Both camps are entrenched for their own reasons, I think it's going to be a stormy October / November possibly? | hamhamham1

18/8/2018 12:07 | Hamhamham1: Fair comment. Apart from the words ".. even if the funding wasn't in place?" then what you describe is what happens at present, though anouncements are normally outside trading hours. Investors "piling in" know the risk that any "go private", merger or takeover may not go ahead for a myriad of reasons. Also, delaying release of price sensitive news also has its casualties and should be responsibly considered. Quote from FT: "The SEC has said companies can announce material information on social media but cannot mislead investors. If investigators conclude that Mr Musk’s tweet overstated the nature of the financing, it could form the basis for a market manipulation case." In your example, there is an apparent lie and CEO would need to account to regulatory body for what he/she said. IMO: Musk was irritated by short term targets. SP is an indicator of current/short term progress and can be measure of progress for shareholders. Sp may also be used by third party financiers in determining level of risk/loan they are willing to afford.(e.g against security of mortgage debenture). Supressed share price (due to shorters) can lead to undue focus on short term goals to detriment of long term investors. Combined, this gives Musk motivation to act as he did. In general terms (not Tesla speciifc), a short term view winning over long term in a company is generally unhealthy or sub-optimal. Investors do need informing though, so contrary to Trump recent comment, I hold with quarterly(+) reporting/comment, to account for actions, progress and vison in words, if not in (short term) deed. :-) Dave | dr_smith
18/8/2018 07:07 | Dr Smith. So if the CEO of e.g. Debenhams tweeted that they are fully funded to be able to take it private at a price substantially above the current share price, which then sent the share price soaring and investors piling in, then thats OK, even if the funding wasn't in place? | hamhamham1
17/8/2018 17:31 | See the ADR doing better again! Can we close in London and just deal on the NYSE....lol Seems yanks have more faith in BT than we do. Sounds about right for s to do ourselves down in the Uk | pacemaker1000 |
