23/9/2018 15:39 | Monty's just a wind-up merchant or maybe he has a terrible memory. Monty was one of the people calling for Gavin's head.... | toon1966
23/9/2018 15:01 | looks like a quality appointment, and the city like him too | kmann
23/9/2018 13:14 | STFU shorter scum ! | tradejunkie2
23/9/2018 12:43 | Be careful who you wish for, when a CEO been given the boot, Gavin I thought was just getting it right, the new guy normally comes in and does a kitchen sink job, will he maintain the high dividend? | montyhedge
23/9/2018 11:49 | Patterson was the head man at Global Services before moving to CEO, so his thinking would already have been tainted. Rumour has it, that appointment was the reason Liv Garfield moved off to Severn Trent, as she fancied the being the BT top dog. | eaaxs06
23/9/2018 11:18 | Interesting to read the chairman's comments that he doesn't want a Telecoms veteran rather someone who can provide a fresh pair of eyes on the business. So he's basically wanting another Patterson... | smurfy2001
23/9/2018 09:39 | The Sunday Telegraph: BT is considering the appointment of Philip Jansen, who last week announced his departure as joint-chief executive of the payments processor Worldpay, as its new chief executive | bartram
23/9/2018 08:58 | What planet are you on Pace to call Sky an 'advertising' company. Sky have 23 million paying TV subscribers across Europe, plus a superior TV platform makes it highly attractive to Comcast. | toon1966
23/9/2018 07:03 | And I think we need to prepare for a Labour government. Corbyn just said he will let the members decide if Labour will support a second peoples vote as part of their party policy. It will be interesting to see if a second vote is guaranteed to be part of Labours policy - its all in the wording of the vote question on Tuesday, if so, could go something like this: 1. Labour members (Momentum) vote to support the second referendum, this becomes Labour policy (EU will then engineer their offer towards a second vote). 2. Theresa May comes back with a deal (or no deal) from EU which is voted down in parliament. 3. May won't call a second referendum, so has no option but to call a snap election. 4. Labour wins and get into government based upon holding a second referendum (plus a few other vote winners, like removing university fees, renationalising trains, water, etc.) 5. Second referendum held, UK votes to stay in EU, with help of plenty of carrot dangling from EU (part of which will be giving the nod to Labour about renationalisation as long as European companies are compensated - EU decided this is better than letting UK leave the EU). 6. Corbyn and McDonnell roll out their socialist renationalisation programme. 7. The UK economy tanks under the debt and policies. Let's see! Corbyn reluctantly has to see this path as his only route to government and will grab it I think. Edit. I guess the Tories could replace their leader if an election is announced and then the Tories could change their policy as well backing a second referendum as well - to steel Labours thunder. Then ironically all 3 major parties would go into a snap election supporting a second referendum! | hamhamham1
23/9/2018 06:50 | As much as I don't like to admit it, Sky has an enviable tv platform with a lovely user experience front end. But as I said before, I don't want BT to compete against Sky for tv platform and content, it's a money pit. Regarding Sky, one thing for sure, prices going to go up in the future to pay back the buyers purchasing loans. | hamhamham1
22/9/2018 20:49 | Historically BT was 2/3rds of Sky for a long time. Beggars belief it’s perceived value for what is an advertising company in an era that’s moving away from it! On demand is where it is, advertising as we know it is dead as is satellite as a delivery system. Unbelievable! | pacemaker1000
22/9/2018 20:41 | Sky bought for £30bn crazy. Let’s hope BT are next. | smurfy2001
22/9/2018 18:20 | Diku. If Monty wants to poke investors and flip-flop on praising a share then trashing it based purely upon his in-out investment position then thry must expect it. | hamhamham1
22/9/2018 18:12 | ham...here here cut some slack for monty...no need to be so nasty and direct... | diku
22/9/2018 16:57 | All interesting stuff, it was only Wednesday when Worldpay announced that Jansen was stepping down at the end of the year. I wonder if this is just Sky news putting 2 and 2 together to make 5? | eaaxs06
22/9/2018 16:03 | Monty sneared here "best short in the FTSE" - he's not just a plank, he's a nasty plank to boot. | hamhamham1
22/9/2018 14:27 | Yep, I worked a couple of years at Worldpay up till after the float. Was a lovely new HQ, could watch the Bloomberg new European HQ being built next door from the lunch area. Although for lunch I preferred their old office near Aldgate East tube, lunch then was Sticky Wings in Brick Lane, or street food from the Old Truman Brewery or Petticoat Lane. I am a lot thinner since i left! | hamhamham1
22/9/2018 13:31 | Worldpay boss rumoured to be in the hiring line for BT Group hxxp://www.cityam.co | toon1966

21/9/2018 07:39 | Mbm. 6 2 3 ??? | hamhamham1
20/9/2018 21:07 | No point getting frustrated now. We all knew it was going to be a sloooow process. All in all I think it will be 6 2 3 if you ask me. | mbmiah |
