24/10/2021 17:28 | BATs operates in over 100 countries around the world and must have very good distribution network in place and many contacts and that must be a big advantage for any new products that the company produce and in IMO could be key to the future. A lot of companies would give their right arm to have BATs contacts and distribution network. | vfast
23/10/2021 15:12 | car1pet, energy drinks still a good move for the company and with e-cigarettes a shift to what may be seen as cleaner products and it just might start to get fund managers to take a look at the company. | vfast
22/10/2021 16:25 | Looks as if the energy drink has worn off. Back to square 1 | car1pet

20/10/2021 17:26 | I think the pattern of selling on the news will continue until such time there are more prolonged active buyers in the market other than Mr Ken Dart.Surely even with ESG investment restrictions and moral reservations around tobacco, there must come a time when these stocks get so ridiculously cheap, and their dividends so compelling, that even fund managers will find them hard to ignore in a higher inflation environment imho.Time will tell.I've been in here from £35.50 downwards.I considered them cheap then.Hey ho,that's investing for you. | redbaron10
20/10/2021 16:11 | Many thanks redbaron. It does sound like an interesting strategy. | vfast
20/10/2021 15:04 | vfast PM beat on EPS (which US investors take more store by as a financial measure) slightly and beat on revenues.A few distribution and logistic issues were highlighted around IQOS which they expect to clear by midway through next year. All in all Q3 was quite satisfactory yet PM shares were sold down on the results.Seems normal now however good or reasonable the results are there is a 'sell on the news' trend with tobacco stocks. | redbaron10
20/10/2021 14:57 | Redbaron, how did PM figures look? | vfast

18/10/2021 16:42 | Bought in for the 8.5% yield and see no reason to sell. In fact when they announce 2021 2022 dividend it may be closer to a 9% yield. On financials the company is great value at this price, if/when sentiment changes this will fly. | vfast

14/10/2021 09:33 | Write up in the times todayUS Food and Drug Administration gives green light for British American Tobacco's e-cigarettesAlex RalphThursday October 14 2021, 12.01am BST, The TimesThe US Food and Drug Administration said BAT's data showed that three of its tobacco-flavoured Vuse Solo products could benefit addicted adult smokersThe US Food and Drug Administration said BAT's data showed that three of its tobacco-flavoured Vuse Solo products could benefit addicted adult smokersMARK STEHLE/APAn American regulator has authorised the marketing of several of British American Tobacco's e-cigarette products, making them the first vaping products to be granted clearance amid an industry-wide review into their appeal to younger consumers. The US Food and Drug Administration said BAT's data showed that three of its tobacco-flavoured Vuse Solo products could benefit addicted adult smokers who switched to them "by reducing their exposure to harmful chemicals". However, it denied BAT's request to sell other flavoured Vuse products and is evaluating a proposal to keep selling a menthol version. The FDA is working through a series of applications, including from Juul, the American e-cigarette company, which has faced a clampdown over the marketing of flavoured products. The products under review have already been sold in the United States, but need FDA approval for marketing to continue.Tobacco manufacturers have invested heavily in e-cigarettes as they try to diversify away from toxic combustible tobacco products.Mitch Zeller, director of the FDA's centre for tobacco products, said that the authorisations were an "important step toward ensuring all new tobacco products undergo the FDA's robust, scientific pre-market evaluation".He added: "We will monitor the marketing of the products, including whether the company fails to comply with any regulatory requirements or if credible evidence emerges of significant use by individuals who did not previously use a tobacco product, including youth. We will take action as appropriate."A national survey found that 10 per cent of high school students who used e-cigarettes named Vuse as their usual brand. The FDA said the data reinforced its decision to authorise the tobacco-flavour products because they were "less appealing to youth".BAT said the decision underscored "years of research dedicated to ensuring that adult nicotine consumers aged 21-plus have access to innovative and potentially less harmful alternatives to traditional tobacco products". A spokesman said that the denial orders related to five flavours not on sale.Shares in BAT rose 30p, or 1.2 per cent, to £25.69½. | tole
