Thanks carpet, it was just the £28.85 i couldn't figure out.
No crystal balls in this game but i just thought Bats were trading at 2,626 on 20 Sept so when i had the chance to sell for a profit at 2,731 yesterday i took it.
Since it was on the rise to XD i guessed the share price might drop back to that level.
At a possible £26 these must be a huge bargain, maybe yielding 8.5% at that.
With the good chance of inflation looming i think buyers will flock to high dividend shares
All good fun....

Hi kipper take the $ to £ exchange rate on hxxps://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=USD&To=GBP and multiply the price of BTI by the exchange rate.
At the moment the pre-market price of BTI is 36.08. The exchange rate is .7422 so sterling equivalent is 36.08 x .7422 = 2677.9p

Out of interest, how are you calculating $36.10 to reach £28.85 please carpet?
Thanks in advance

I'm guessing there will be a small rally at end of day. The current pre-market for BTI is 36.10 which equates to approx 2885. £26 looks unlikely to me but I'm often wrong - we shall see!!

Another 60p tomorrow is quite possible....
Would start to get interested at £26
All out yesterday at 2,731

Looks like BATS won the case against the big US tobacco companies to block the import of IQOS into the states, should give a nice boost to the NGP sales in the region!

EDIT: If anyone is wondering why the price is dropping today it's ex-dividend day

step, just for sake of clarity. The spread on Bats today was 2,734 to buy 2,733 to sell. That's a spread of 0.04%
You will have to pay Stamp Duty of 0.5% on purchase. That's about 13p at this price.
My broker will want £5. On a £10,000 trade that's not too much.
Not got a system that guarantee's, sorry.
But plenty of people trading like this with reasonable returns; it's 'horses for courses' i guess....

The ADR is continuing to rise - currently 37.10 which equates to 2763p using latest exchange rate

To be factually correct it was 26 shares that met that criteria according to Bowmore Asset Management.Investec and Aviva were also mentioned.

Nice finish to the day.Even if there is a sell off below the ex-div price, with inflation at 3-4% there aren't many places to park your cash in equities to stop inflation eroding your hard earned. At least here with a 7.8% divi your cash buying potential is safeguarded to a certain extent.Apparently according to the Sunday Express i think there were 23 shares in the Ftse 350 with dividend yields over the current rate of inflation.BATS,IMB,Rio and Unilever were those mentioned...but don't quote me on that one.

You still pay stamp duty, plus spread and dealing charges whenever you trade in and out. Sure, you might make a profit this time, but you will lose as often as you win (unless you have some sort of system which guarantees otherwise, in which case you will have retired to your Caribbean island by now :-))

Cheers,

I once traded out of BATS around £7 back in 2004. Waited for a drop so I could get back in, but it never came :-(

Alternatively you could just have held on to them. No stamp duty or dealing charges to worry about.

Yes, 0.5% stamp works out at about 13p at these levels
Plus my broker (iWeb) will want a fiver....
There's the ex divi drop to consider & also the coming FDA announcement on vaping in US.
Kindof decided i need a £26, or below, buyback price.....
All in my view,,,,,

No I'm still holding for the time being Kipper 999.hoping they maintain or even increase dividend. I also hold IMB.
Alot of talk about correction with stocks in general due to problems in China so maybe best to have some cash spare to dip back in at later date.

It has to drop quite a bit more than the Divi to make it worth while. Make sure you take the tax and commission into account if you do :-)
