I had been adding to short positions from 480-545 range; was a bit concerned when it got to 550; losses started to bite.Closed a few positions yesterday and today - still a bit short but I am confident of taking more profits in both directions; 480-520 is the ideal range for me, going into next set of results and xdiv date.Good luck

A bit of mispricing in traded options - there is no allowance for quarterly dividend payments up to March 2024 (the xdiv price drop not factored in ) - I will try to take advantage of that - generally, the pricing is perfect so maybe I have it wrong.

makes me laugh when citi are forecasting oil to be low $70, they forgot currency is near worthless now.. £1000 per week wages are now poverty. oil should be $120 at least.

BP and SHELL still neck and neck on the 10 year chart so the most lucrative to have help would have been the one with the higher yield.

US BP lead resigns to pursue other opportunities. Perhaps he was told he was not in the running for the CEO role.

For your information the futures show Brent in the mid 80s by mid 2024. Still a cash machine in my book and we got Looney to thank for the expression lol

It's noticeable that the share price is not very responsive to increases in the oil price from at 93 Brent. Just heard some analyst saying that equities generally go by the forward price of oil which happens to be a bit lower . The reason for this are several fold. For one thing the Saudis need to release the oil that are withholding into market and the expectation is that it will be next year possibly Q1. Any thoughts on this welcome :)

So where next? All going well and according to plan.
I am 100% certain that there will be many bumps and humps and no doubt some scamtastic orchestrated scaremongering headlines to test us (all quickly forgotten)
So I will stick my neck out and reiterate my personal longer term targets of £6 this year and breaking that £6 barrier & achieve the mid £6 mark next year possibly £7.
I am far too long BP & Shell and will have to reduce percentage holdings at some point but just now I simply see no reason to sell……… where better would I put my money if I did sell ?

Isn't it amazing what $97 a barrel, Brent, can do for the share price. I can see the price staying high into the new year. Opec + certainly no how to strangle supply. No doubt there will be calls for windfall taxes when results are out.

The current situation is gradually becoming clearer. Tomorrow (or Friday), there is a possibility that it may reach 550 and then stabilize around 540. If there are no other bearish factors, such as the delicate timing of the Looney's sudden resignation, it is much more likely to experience a breakout shortly . Due to the company's ongoing share buyback, some level of current consolidation cannot be ruled out. However, the overall trend should indicate the beginning of a bull market.
