Dont worry. The yanks are predicting peak shale production is pretty close then they say control of the worlds fossils is predominately in the hands of Saudi and UAE and Qatar. The Tories are saving ours for posterity and to save us (and the Middle East) from the horrors of climate change

80p drop in a month, buybacks working? was £6 in 2018 while we had 21 billion shares in issue.

getting tired of hearing the word recession every day... we just drop 5-8p every day while they say it.

It went ex divi so that's worth about 5p off.

What has BP done today, then? A buying opportunity methinks.

Stonking performance by the BP trading unit once again: it's great how they make most of the money but BP goes out of its way not to mention them because it's a bit embarrassing. From the trading statement:

"Compared to the fourth quarter 2022, the result reflects an exceptional gas marketing and trading result, [...] and a very strong oil trading result"

Good article in the FT about oil majors' trading units:

Good news sends the price down though...

P/E is around 6 on a prospective basis. Yield is over 4 per cent. Debt is coming down. There's a load of noise around but the the fundamentals are good.

Thanks - I think I am a bit more patient and less greedy than average trader. My trades can go wrong as well - the trick is to have the funds to execute a strategy under adverse / unexpected share movements. Most of my trades are call/put options - I own a reasonable amount of core FTSE stocks. Anyway, DYOR, and good luck.

younasm- I have noticed over the years that you get it right with your trades of BP much more often than not……
I use your declared trades as a pretty good barometer to the direction BP will take and suggest others keep an eye on your posts
