02/5/2023 16:33 | Oh well - like I said, c£5 at the close was wishful thinking. Time to sit back and wait. | zulu_principle
02/5/2023 16:29 | Closed the remaining short positions - I am confident BP will recover to 520-560p range before end of year. | younasm
02/5/2023 15:52 | BP is not my favourite oil stock, and I don't like buybacks either, but this does seem an extreme reaction even on a bad day for oil, especially as the company's outlook assumed an oil price of only $60. The problem with both BP and Shell, but especially bp, is that they cannot decide how 'woke' to go. I am not looking to add to my BPeven if the price does drop further (in fact I have been using price spikes to sell down my BPholding). Also reduced Shell at 2450, but I am watching Woodside closely. The price there is beginning to look pretty attractive. Likewise Flex Ling (gas/gas transport play). | 1knocker
02/5/2023 15:48 | Probably go up. | pander45
02/5/2023 15:33 | Looks a good entry point. | tempted
02/5/2023 15:31 | Way oversold - medium to long term market fundamentals still sound (i.e. unchanged). Haven't bought any more but haven't sold any either, sitting tight. I reckon we'll close just under or slightly over £5 (ok, it's wishful thinking). | zulu_principle
02/5/2023 15:27 | Anyone would think the dividend had been cancelled, it has not, it is maintained and another buyback tranche to come on top..A bit, or a lot of an over reaction .. ! | laurence llewelyn binliner
02/5/2023 15:09 | Anyone for a nice round 10% down today by close | dov
02/5/2023 15:08 | Brutal selloff now... Imagine if the results were poor instead of good... | russ1983
02/5/2023 14:57 | Shares being sold down on the day of results. Seems to happening across a range of shares irrespective of news. Largely automated in my view. Same think happened to LGEN on XD day. Price goes down then the bots get in and send it down further. Still, as a long-term investor this just encourages a bit of shopping tomorrow assuming the price stays down. | nk104
02/5/2023 14:56 | Thank the Lord the profits were better than expected. I wonder where we would be if they had decided to increase the divi instead of lower the buybacks. Oil has taken a whack too. Bit of a meteor shower without the aesthetics. Bought a few at 506 this am thinking to maybe sell again before the close. Another daft idea o mine :-( | scruff1
02/5/2023 13:53 | A thumbs up from me adg. I too hope BP exits the UK, the only positives for me are that there will be more shares repurchased and the lower the price the more attractive BP will be for a US major to start 'running the numbers'. I am tempted to top up, but have learn't to sit on my hands; perhaps end of the week when things have settled down. I see from MarketScreener that all three analysts that have issued updates today have kept the targets the same (630-710). I dread to think what would have happened to the share price had trading had a 'bad qtr'. Makes me think this share price movement was going to happen either way.... sell on news.. etc etc.. | gwatson56
02/5/2023 13:42 | I can tell you are not happy adg. | dominiccummings
02/5/2023 13:20 | BP and Shell should both exit the UK and relist in the USA - I genuinely hope they do that in the coming years as a big FU to all the brainwashed WOKE thickos who seem to have the UK on a self destructive path into oblivion So narrow minded and simply stupid and brainless attitudes and agendas seem to be at the fore of national and local Governmental deduction making - I despair and actually think it’s the beginning of the end for UK energy security and a shoehorn Ito the UK becoming a second world country after being (at one point) a respected leader in world politics - now we are a laughing stock and a poor relative on a downward spiral - pretty much solely due to WOKE pathetic blinkered lazy idiots | adg
02/5/2023 12:20 | Stonking performance by the BP trading unit once again: it's great how they make most of the money but BP goes out of its way not to mention them because it's a bit embarrassing. "Compared to the fourth quarter 2022, the result reflects an exceptional gas marketing and trading result, [...] and a very strong oil trading result" | viscount1
02/5/2023 12:03 | An earnings beat and a surprisingly large further buyback but the share price sharply off this morning because ... sluggish poo, and ? We didn't expect another dividend increase just yet did we? People annoyed the share awards are so large. Any nuggets? Debt reduction has stalled but perhaps they are getting in extra buybacks now because there are big loan repayments coming up. No significant asset realisations? Flannel and green investment commitments but very little real spending or progress on transition. Otherwise all pretty dull. Once again having to take perverse pleasure in the weak share price because of the intense buyback activity. | marktime1231
02/5/2023 11:54 | Nonsense price action today. Beggars belief. | pander45
02/5/2023 11:12 | Well hydrogen is mentioned 17 times in the update along with CCS projects - what more does the market expect.... | skinny
02/5/2023 11:08 | adg, the way this stupid world is going, you might just be right. I think the news item over the bank holiday has a lot to do with the drop. About B.P. not meeting it's green targets. | cinoib
02/5/2023 10:21 | I continue to detest buybacks . | holts |
