Dow and s&p rebounded in later trading. Is this the bottom or a mere paring of losses?

Did you look into Black Rock Commodity Income to spread the risk?

400 appears likely and if that fails to support 365.

I will be surprised if the share price falls south of 420 but who knows. Oil is getting a hammering. Still think this is oversold. Bought first batch yesterday and will average down with bp and there are not too many I would do that with

just picked up another £500 worth for my SIPP at around 423.5. First time had bought any BP in three years. Tricky decision as there are lots of bargains in the energy and oil sector at the moment and of course continuing week oil prices may seen more attractive prices in all of them in the near future. And of course overall nervousness in the major equity markets.

Take your pic, BP, Total, Statoil, Exxon, chevron, conoco phillips and of course all the oil drillers well down at the moment.

Never forgetting BP always has the potential with a blockbuster merger deal with someone like Exxon.

I agree with prevbious posters a lot of bad news is priced in.

Better to buy in now I think thank wait til we are back up north of 4.50 levels.

Of course who knows the current trend is down so it would surprise me to see us back down to £4 levels either in the short term !!

bookbroker,
Me comprendo un pocco Anglais men inge so myck.
SBB = Share Buy Backs

What are you view on the dividend? Will it get covered next year if oil prices stabilise at these levels?
What I can see is a company that has been increasing its debt in order to fund its dividend policy and SBB (now under the water).

Again helicopter view. And yes, you're right, take-over rumor mill should soon start spinning..

I actually think the regulatory issues could be resolved fairly easily, Exxon already has a good relationship with Rosneft through the Kara Sea project, in terms of UK and US., there is considerable share support in the US via JP Morgan Chase as beholder of US institutional investment, off course there would be hurdles, but no more so than one say between the giant mining cos., whose influence in certain commodities far richer than BP. and Xom. in fossil fuels!
