bigchap, that was mostly in jest. It's probably easy to work out how long it will take to "mine" the samples by looking at the load capacity of the equipment they have. What I can't remember is if they've told us how many of these bulk samples they're having to ship out?

Excellent, at least some of you actually know what it takes to do this!! Instead of those of us( me included) who have just read about how to do it...

As people were in Moriusaq awaiting machinery, they had all of last years mining fleet available - that was probably being checked and fired up. Sorting out the kit arriving will take a short while,
It’s a decent amount of machinery and personnel. The Greenland authorities have been very helpful allowing 5000 ton samples to go out.Remember, these samples are going to Companies who already had material last year & I would guess that any offtake talks are well progressed. That being said, the amount of time Lawyers of big companies take to draw up terms and conditions ( I’m sure any Lawyers here could explain it better)it’s anyones guess. From the buyers side they have to weigh up whether a bid would come in for the Ilmenite project, versus getting the best terms for an offtake.
Today we can see a hostile bid playing out with Eramet and it’s current JV partner!
It’s an active space.
Particularly the prospect that Itelak May hold an even bigger and higher grade than Moriusaq.

The fact that the company is getting on with actually getting up to forty people working up there, and the scale of work being undertaken - we have our own boat for sea bed measurements off Itelak - the SRK estimates for Ilmenite quantity in the tidal zone, that should be here any time.
Plenty of positive newsflow,
They may need a moment to finish unloading though!
Then, The Big Chap can set them a work schedule!!

sheep herder I work in a quarry and if you told me you would be taking 2 weeks to start moving "sand" from a beach run it through some screens then another 4 weeks to bag it ready for up lift id be rather disappointed with you...my guesstimate then total our end 2 weeks. 2 weeks shipping I will grant you but customer/unknowns end I would reduce in total to 2weeks( they should be ready for us and eager to seal a deal quickly)

my total then would be 6 weeks if we have our finger out and someone is driving this properly.

I welcome the delays in an offtake agreement. It gives me the opportunity to buy more stock at a good price as funds become available.

Setting up equipment - 2 weeks
Starting processing and time to samples - 4 weeks
Shipping - 2 weeks
Customer processing - 2 weeks
Unknown unknowns - 2 weeks

So 3 months is my guess.

So do we have a good idea of when this might conclude?
"I would have thought the off take agreement(s) would not come until after the larger smelter samples had been processed, delivered and confirmed?"

Snowy, I think Alba are at least a year away from deploying any big kit.

Now back on terra firma, barbie-Ing a few snags overlooking our wonderful St Brides Bay. What a weekend.

Shavian - the next port of call after Moriusaq is Qaanaak. If there was anything on the Malik for Alba did it get taken off with our gear or if it were to have been taken off at Qaanaak was there nothing which on the face of it seems to be the case since the webcam at 16.00 local shows there is nothing left on deck.

Sorry guys, sitting on an idyllic little beach only accessible by water. Bit like Moriusaq only warmer. So missed the initial landing. Webcam now showing Malik discharging lesser bits of kit into the lighter. Hope we'll get some shots of the camp on the website soon, if only to post on the Alba blog!

Missed the last few pictures (been up a ladder painting the house) but I see the Tonka has gone and assume they are unloading onto dry land that we can't see, behind the camera. As you say, they have probably done this sort of thing before, so I'll go back to the painting and let them get on with it without my help.

The boats angle has changed, could it be that the barge is a buffer between shallow water and the ship? As she turns side on it could stop her running aground?..

Eek! They are fairly practised I think!

Yes, I see. But that is a pretty big Tonka Truck that appears to be first off, too big for the barge. Off course we can't see what's behind the camera either. We'll see what happens.
