If it is simply switching on their website and waiting for the market to respond then I think the shareholders, me included, are going to have a worrying time in 2024. I hope that SR/MV can prove my fears wrong but sales don't just happen. Potential users will want to know why they should bother with elevate.io given that so many other software packages over promise and deliver short. If they cannot generate a real buzz of excited users quickly they may never do so. I do hope I'm wrong.

Doubling my money in anything more than 10 minutes from RNS release and I will be disappointed.

Good chance of easily doubling your money and more in a relatively short time.

They have basically said that the launch will be the website going live and not a lot else.

So if you are expecting anything else - then you will be disappointed.

Mind you - we know with the right key adwords that Captevate was getting 800 registrations a week.

The last thing BIRD needs now is a damp squib launch. Aiming at the professional editing market first is sensible but how many of them will currently have heard of BIRD or have registered for elevate.io?

Chris

They are not doing a launch

They do seem to be working hard to stay in stealth mode so don’t expect anything flashy

Maybe it’s a big tech that is dictating all this?

Or it’s simply late but they said it’s on time

However still a few days left to go

The last thing BIRD needs now is a damp squib launch. Aiming at the professional editing market first is sensible but how many of them will currently have heard of BIRD or have registered for elevate.io?

Easter isn't just a long weekend. The last week of March and first week of April is the first of the three peak holiday periods with many people actually out of the country and others away from home. So they will need something that is really going to grab the headlines if the news of the launch is going to still be in the news when they return. Coupling the launch with a major player partnering BIRD or one of the big 3 acting as a conduit would create a story that cannot be overlooked.

"their track record is one of taking a very long time to get to where they want to be!"

well even now, they have employee numbers of just 36 , which is around what an APP start up might have on product launch , and that includes the various people working in Enterprise ...and for years they had far less than 20 people !!

Ignore the screen price 6/6.1, as it’s well offered at 6.

Good discussions here. The thing that worries me with this BB is the amount of belief and expectation.

That said...we're a minnow playing in a massive space so perhaps it is justified. And more importantly the starting valuation doesn't seem excessive.

Elevate could be an immense tool to democratise video editing. Power to the people and all that. What once required multi million pound setups (studios, teams, pro equipment) and was beyond the individual can now be done at home with some high quality cameras and cloud editing in a home studio.

If Flexclip had breakthrough technology it would have been acquired.

Just shows numbers are not enough.

But there's more to it than that. Subs generate cash. Cash gives financial strength.

If you have 'the best' product with no subscribers, that's no use (BIRD).
If you have lots of subscribers with an average product (Flexiclip) that's limiting too.

In BIRD's case they'll want to grow or acquire subscribers at the lowest cost.

In Flexiclip's case they'll want to acquire the best technology at the lowest cost.

What it comes down to is financial strength. In either situation the company with the money has the upper hand. BIRD has a decent runway...but the next 12 months is crunch time.

It's a shame we couldn't acquire a lot of subscribers from a mid-range product cheaply. My worry is that BIRD tries to go too small for too long, doesn't get subscribers up and thus drains financial resources.

We need to target Flexiclip's mass of subscribers to get subscription monies into the business to avoid dilution.

Fortunately, insiders at BIRD have a huge stake in the business so are incentivised not to dilute. But to balance that....their track record is one of taking a very long time to get to where they want to be!

fwiw, I took a little top up today.

Yes, it's a bit of a charade, but no more than expected.

What matters is the numbers, and we will no doubt have to wait yet another couple of months, at least, before we get anything from them!

In the meantime we await early user's reports...maybe in a couple of week's time?

Yep even 10 days before is terrible really. They are clearly delayed as they were meant to monetise from Q1 but that’s not yet. I get there will always be delays but does make me laugh when IM says in interviews ‘even the shareholders we were surprised we were on time’ when they aren’t really

Given Easter and Good Friday.

I had thought today would be the day.

I now assume general access will be with the hoi polloi.

Whilst not overly material - it's pretty poor after getting people to sign up in September.

Fully expecting all remaining early access sign up’s to be able to access this week. Probably Friday but can’t think they would leave it any later than that

All this happened in the TV editing industry expansion in my time so I know the formula that will play out.

More content means 10 x more editing

In an AI video world it means even more editing

Oh then add in the power of collaboration.

Someone with the right tools and technology are going to win big time

I agree with AI ..but ..I am suggesting that I see it more on the skilled pro storytellers side, rather than the mass market short clip side where the AI effects often get over used there, and therefore stale
It is alsways the story that is the important thing, not the effects used to tell it ...and as such the AI effects must enhance the story, and not be some sort of gimmick to a weak story
They want to encourage decent quality payable AI effects , which would then be used in quality story telling projects

"...the more content that gets created, the more editing that’s required,"

yes....one wonders what the lifespan is of some of this content, given how much of it is being churned out ...a lot needing hype and a small burst of popularity I suspect

As such the editing becomes a real important skill within the attention grabbing process of the creation

Netflix remember said they are even competing with sleep

I disagree

AI turbo charges creators video editing process and importantly it OPENS UP the creator economy to more people to people who don’t want to be YouTubers but have stories to tell.

It’s more the equivalent of being an author than a performer.

I see this a a creator revolution that’s been a long time coming.

It’s going to be very explosive.

Whilst initially some AI effect, puts you ahead of the crowd....the benefit soon disappears as the effect can then become very common and as such loses its initial "wow" factor

Same happened with webpages ...some slider was one a day a "wow", the next day ... so,what?

I hope BIRD sticks to the quality side of the creator economy and doesnt fall into the cheap end where everyone wants everything ..free ...and ever demanding more and more for nothing

Adobe David Wadhwani:
Great…So as it relates to generated content, I’m going to sort of break it up into two parts. One is around the tooling and how you create the content, and the second is around automation associated with the content. I think if you take a step back before we even get into either one of those,

These are things that get users started. It’s a great for ideation. You’ll see in a few weeks that some of the incredible work the team has been doing around ideation on Firefly.com. And once those things are created, they do flow into our tools for the production, work and process. We’re clearly seeing a huge benefit from that because the more content that gets created, the more editing that’s required, and that’s what’s driving more commercial CC subscribers this quarter than any other Q1 before. So that’s the foundation of it.

The second part of this, though, from an editing perspective is the controllability of — and the editability of not just pixels and vectors and timelines, but also the editability of the latent space itself. The latent space being the core capability — core model capabilities that actually generate the output.
We have a lot of research that we’ve already started releasing, the first of which was Style Match, and you’ll start to see more and more of that actually coming out at summit and beyond. But we are, in my mind, very, very clearly the leader in terms of creating models that can also be tooled on top of. So that combination of the models getting better and the controllability of those models, we’re in a remarkable position for that. So we benefit from that. The second part, Kash, is around automation. So as people are generating more content, you clearly need to be able to automate that content and how it’s created. And that’s really where Firefly Services come in. First, it’s built on the strength of our Firefly models, say for commercial use integrated into our tools, but it also adds the ability to have custom models so control what kinds of information or brand and content it’s trained on for both brand styles and product replica, and it’s also part of an ecosystem of API services, not just generate something which is a core part of it like text to image, or Generative Fill or Generative Expand, but also process.

From the Adobe pro investor conference call the other day (taken from the transcript).

Re Video AI

…net-net video is going to be even more of a need for editing applications in order to truly take advantage of generative AI.

…You’re going to see others developing model. All of that creates a tailwind because the more people generate video clips, the more they need to edit that content, right?
