Diamond eyes seat of BlackRock board
By FT Reporters

Published: June 5 2009 21:04 | Last updated: June 5 2009 21:04

Ann Diamond, the high-profile television news presenter, plans to join the board of Black Rock if the oil & gas group reaches agreement to buy Barclays Global Oil & Gas Holdings, the UK bank's oil and gas business.

Black Rock was on Friday night in the final stages of agreeing a £10bn-plus deal to buy BO&G from Barclays, which would allow the UK bank to strengthen its balance sheet, and benfit Black Rock by giving it unlimited access to funding for its Arce and Acacia oilfields, where it is proposed to invest the entire Barclays capital into the next generation of steam engines. However, the talks could yet stall after Barclays demanded at least £12bn.

Ms Diamond commented: "Don't worry, we'll ask my mate, Gordon, for government assistance in the purchase. They are completely committed to the 'hot air' industry".

Yeah, Likewise. In fact, its hard just letting go of this board. I still check to see if there are any posts.

In fact its quite good, for about the only time in its life, the share price hasn't gone down. I look at it and think "Its holding up well, still hasn't gone down any". And I suppose you could even say its guaranteed not to go down. Oh, if only we had that certainty before.
