Discount seems far too large, my thinking is at somepoint investor desire for the fangs will weaken and biotechs with new new breakthroughs underpinned by ever increasing demand from ageing populations etc could easily take over. Not a bad area to have some exposure to regardless.

That's because IBT has a dividend yield of 4% and has outperformed its index. Seems like YTD BIOG is performing better, but need to sustain this to improve its long term performance.

IBT on slight premium to NAV whereas BIOG at a discount . Very similar funds, I would expect BIOG to catch up at some point

Or maybe the funds management are too busy sipping champagne on our money to notice the money we trusted them with is evaporating.

Share price nearly 10% below NAV now, should see some buy backs.

By the way, there is an excellent and insightful free research paper on BIOG at Edison Investment Research dated Feb 22. Sorry I cannot post the link.

Thanks all, probably sound advice, just having a clear out of underperforming investments in my portfolio and noticed BIOG has consistently been a losing investment for me.

For me I'm in as it broadens my spread and exposure. But I also get into something that in the long term should imho do well. I believe we'll make the same stride in bio than we have made in technologies e.g google maps, smart phones etc we have had. Agree though don't like spikes but in the long term not an issue. I also don't care about the discount as that will come back with performance.

I have had enough of this fund. The discount is widening, the spread is often ridiculously wide and the way it has spiked up in recent years concerns me. I will try to get my money back.

I agree, huge potential in biotech and rather those with expertise choose the companies to invest in than me. 2% discount to NAV, I I am in.

Bought in here on Friday so keen on others views. Its had a good run though and little if any discount.

Its part of a balanced portfolio but feel its a merited position due to this sector perhaps going through what technology has done this last 20 years. Bio science will have its iPhone / google maps moment as some point in the next 10-20 years I reckon.

IMHO

Yeah. Good luck. Personally I believe markets to be more event driven.e.g. geo-political, and trumps income/spending mismatch. And attack on healthcare. So I am more likely a seller at this level whatever charts may indicate...

This stuff works for me and I'm not leveraged. I use TA on all assets to establish entries targets and exits. We've been stuck at this 740-760 resistance for some months(which coincidentally is the 61.8% retracement of the July 2015 - Jun 2016 correction therefore its likely others also apply TA to this fund). If we can clear sellers from this level and break above this resistance (which we're currently trying to do) it should become a good level of support in the future and an area I will use to add to my current position with a medium term target of 970-1000p. Each to their own ;-)
