No death crosses here Jimbo. When you come back in 6 months this is just as likely to be back to £8. It's a very volatile world though, Brexit, Democrats, and all that. If I had more to buy in at these prices, I would add to my 7000 without a doubt. Biotech offers the promise of cures for cancer, dementia, arthritis and much much more, and with ever ageing populations with money to spend, and its not dependant on Brent crude.

Money down the drain looking at this chart:

hxxp://www.stockopedia.com/charts/technical/?Code=LON:BIOG&Span=360&Size=L&Type=3&Percentage=0&Volume=1&OVER[]=&OVER[]=&Scale=1&COMP[]=&COMP[]=&COMP[]=&COMP[]=&COMP[]=&IND[]=Vol&IND[]=RSI&IND[]=MACD&IND[]=SStoch&MA[]=50&MA[]=100&MA[]=200&MAType[]=EMA&MAType[]=EMA&MAType[]=EMA&uniqueID=600&endDate=2016-01-20

RSI and stochastic are pointing towards a short term bounce, but EMAs have convincingly death crossed and this trust's shareprice is now in a downtrend. Placing this on a watchlist and will revisit in 6 months time for another look. Got no in-depth knowledge of this sector but am always interested in bargain hunting in bombed out sectors that everybody hates (such as Gold and Uranium mining). Biotech is not there yet, but it looks like the pain is beginning...

The Directors have adopted an active discount
management policy to establish and support an
improved rating in the Company's shares through
the use of share buybacks, with a view to limiting
the discount to NAV per share at which the
shares trade to no more than 6%

The buy backs have already started haven't they?

I dont think the dicount to nav has ever been this wide, they have a mandate to do share buybacks if over 10%.

The chart looks like a Jack in the Box formation to me.

Bought a chunk. Seemed like it was down enough from the 900ish peak of this year. So there was some criticism of exploitation of patent ownership to inflate the cost of life-saving drugs. This does not warrant such a massive downgrade in stock values like the companies are not making profits anymore IMO

Being trying not to look as I am confident this will double over five years.

BIOG was outperforming over the usual 1 yr and 5 yr yardsticks but has underperformed in a similar fashion recently. As was indicated by urgentclick it's a question of committing oneself when sentiment in the far east and emerging markets quieten down. I'm waiting a bit longer for this to happen and then, hopefully, to see the turn before I further invest.

The net asset value seems to be dropping though ?
Interested here but surely if NAV dropping its a reason to wait and see?
Opinions welcome.

Usually very little or no discount to NAV. They, the company, usually buy back their own shares when it exceeds 8% from memory.
I also think, unlike Tech funds, that China is not a factor.
I have bought BIOG IMT and Allianz Insurance today.

Good luck getting back in if that's what you do.

I went in heavy for Woodford and then lost my bottle and cut back my application just prior. Damn!!
