The straight answer would have been no, the durapipe deal has never materialised Maestro.

Glad to see an RNS though even if it is RF and not Bioplastics

I won't be at all suprised if this is the new 'all eggs in one basket' route that Mines intends to take BIOM.

It has all the elements Mines looks for in a new venture

1.Open ended time frames
2.Plenty of need for R&D instead of selling
3.A new angle [as he has run out of reasons to raise any more cash in BIOM]
4.Could result in a re-brand so he can reward all his usual 3rd parties with some more work.
5.Immeasurable, so no having to meet targets or justify himself
6.He can sell another dream to the main shareholders, with the threat of BIOM going to the wall if they don't back him, without even a hint of irony at the fact it is his decisions that keep causing the failure of BIOM.
7. He is unlikely to get a job as well paid for such poor performance with any other company so it saves having to go and find a job when BIOM's cash is all gone - just re-brand,re-launch.

Years ago I proposed a pet hamster for the position of MD at BIOM. The little hamster has since past on to pastures new but what a different company this could have been if the little fella had got the job.

Using shareholder funds to pay market counterparty's for services you don't need such as FTI and 2 brokers [who don't issue forecasts] etc always stands you in good stead as no-one wants to bite the hand that feeds so Minesy puts a bit of [pointless] business everybodys way, paying brokers we don't need, paying Standen a lump to do a job he does anyway, paying rent consultants a lump for agreeing Mines giving millions to the old landlord etc all glues him into his seat.

Goodness knows what whoppers he has fed the 3 main shareholders this time round to keep them on board - usual back me or the company's bust routine I'd imagine.

It can't be easy being a big hitter successful MD like Mr Mines. You have to seriously wonder how anyone can get things so wrong and continue to believe in their own ability.

No he doesn't. He thinks, and has made it be the case, that this is just a piggy bank for him and the board to maintain a handsome income stream for achieving jack.

>No buyers around and not a squeak from the inept board about a single closed deal

I wonder do they understand the nature of business and the necessity to close deals. I am not sure they consider closing deals as a priority. Why would it be now? Afterall Mr Mines has had in excess of 6 years and to be fair closing deals is not his strong point. Whatever his strong point is it has not enriched shareholders. He does know this is a public traded company right?!!

SP at it's first new low of the year.

No buyers around and not a squeak from the inept board about a single closed deal

At least Mines is still rooking a massive salary and perks out of it though and will tell us that the cash has gone down again because of anything else other than him and the board filling their boots at the trough.

What will Mines change of direction be this time? does he want to rebrand the company again - that is due to come up again in his revolving 'throw money at it' strategy manual.

Whatever happened to that review that he threw all that excess money at Standen for? did it say there was no viable future and to milk the cash cow for all you could get out of it before another fund raiser/change of direction? would explain why they didn't let the shareholders know, and why no-one, especially Mines, is interested in buying any stock.

You first have to get someone to make and market them, then find enough people with green credentials to pay a little extra to use them, it all takes time.

When I get the time I'll go back to when Mines was last saying that - which was about 5 years ago!

'Traction'! FFS! Razors? how many did they sell? certainly not the 'substantial volumes' Standen said was going to happen [yet he didn't say 'not in line with management expectations' when it didn't materialise - odd that.]

BIOPLASTICS

The development of bioplastics and other plant-based materials could have a dramatic impact on industrial reliance on petrochemicals, being not just biodegradable but compostable. It could also address waste by-products in the supply chain.

Biome Bioplastics, for example, develops its products and materials from potato starch, a by-product of the wallpaper paste industry. According to director Paul Mines, the company has already developed a plant-based material for biodegradable coffee pods, offering one of the first sustainable packaging alternatives in the single-serve market.

"We've had traction in high-value, relatively niche sectors, like coffee pods, disposable razors, even tree protectors for horticulture," he says.

While the cost of bioplastics is currently two to three times that of oil-derived plastics, Mr Mines expects to see rapid developments in industrial biotechnology. He says: "I can see a path where we can make cheaper bioplastics, probably within three to four years."

He should be actually shouldn't he.

In which case watch out for a new 'project' for leapacross worth a pretty penny, signed off by Mines on some spurious 'review' that will never see the light of day.

We can brace ourselves for the 'we have been notified by 42% of the shareholder base that they will be voting to keep John so you lot just as well not bother trying to upset our apple cart' RNS
