boystown: This is interesting; www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/04/scientists-develop-biodegradable-plastics-ocean-planet?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social_scheduler&;utm_term=Plastics+and+the+Environment&utm_content=14/05/2021+07:00 - but presumably a potential threat to BIOM and others (though I have no idea I hasten to add!)

hatfullofsky: Can't see BIOM holding on to its recent gains with these results.

hatfullofsky: A couple of question to long term holders, how does BIOM compare to SYM? Tech is different and maybe BIOM's will be more accepted. What volume of biomass is needed to produced x volume of bioplastics ? I have concerns BIOM are using food stocks to produce bioplastics.

jmf69: Biome Technologies (BIOM) shares rose 21.95% to 255p as it secures further financing The technology group unveiled that its Bioplastics division has secured £0.248m in funding to further develop the commercial production of its biodegradable tree shelter project.? The further funding, which has come from the Government-backed Innovate UK agency as part of the Sustainable Innovation Fund, follows the successful completion of an initial feasibility study to develop and test a new generation of biodegradable tree shelters.?? The funds will support a significant increase in project activity and facilitate further extensive lab testing of materials and UK-wide field trials with potential end-customers for the biodegradable tree shelters which are to be made from the group's novel bioplastics.? Commenting on the funding Paul Mines, Biome Technologies' Chief Executive Officer said, "This additional funding will help accelerate both the laboratory and 'real-world' testing of this exciting new product, moving it a step closer to large scale commercialisation."?

michaelmouse: hTTps://www.londonstockexchange.com/news-article/BIOM/trading-update/14843173 Growth story remains in tact with results in-line with expectations. 65% uplift in Bioplastics revenues. £1.7m of cash. Most importantly for Bioplastics division, "the Board expects significant revenue growth from this division in 2021, with further product implementations in progress with both existing and new customers. The projects that underpin the division's expected growth in 2021 are proceeding well. The Board remains confident of meeting market expectations in 2021." Prospects for the RF division looking slightly better longer term as well.

michaelmouse: Yes they biodegrade in place if not collected. It really is worth researching this company in detail. Given the current focus on all things environmental, Biome are in a sweet spot for their Biodegradable solutions:- https://uk.advfn.com/stock-market/london/biome-technologies-BIOM/share-news/Biome-Technologies-PLC-Biome-starts-biodegradable/83600180 "These shelters will be designed to provide protection to growing trees, not hinder growth as trees reach maturity and biodegrade if not collected." Yesterday's announcement was more significant than meets the eye, and it's worth a look at this video which includes info about the next stage field trials (20,000 shelters) and the desire from their client, Suregreen, to leave a lasting environmental legacy. hTTps://vimeo.com/455897470 Tree shelters alone would be a huge market for Biome, but it shouldn't distract from the accelerating penetration of their products into the USA.

jmf69: Biome Technologies #BIOM @BiomePlastics is interesting, especially its Bioplastics division which is gaining good momentum with important new contracts signed, particularly with US-based customers, there is a growing interest globally in the substitution of conventional plastics. http://t.co/hK4ze5NOMD

michaelmouse: Bioplastics is doing very nicely and the placing is to support growth albeit at a discounted price. Glad it's now out the way. The interim results are very encouraging for Bioplastics and in longer term the RF division will regain momentum. It's all about the Bioplastics division and the momentum in North America:- "The Bioplastics division performed exceptionally well in the first half despite the upheaval caused by Covid-19, with a 71% increase in revenues compared with the same period in the prior year." "Revenue in the second quarter was £1.2m and represented a new record for the division, despite the disruption caused by the pandemic." "Packaging film - the Company is working on seven new customer projects that focus on the conversion of flexible packaging to compostable formats. Six of these projects are for the North American market" hTTps://www.londonstockexchange.com/news-article/BIOM/interim-results/14696687 hTTps://www.londonstockexchange.com/news-article/BIOM/proposed-fundraise-of-ps1-1-million-notice-of-gm/14696820
