When the Chairman's 'ahem' consultancy company gets paid £47500 in shares for a review that was to cost £28000 you can clearly see where the priorities lie in this company.

Given stock to the value of £47500! for a job he ought to be doing anyway. No wonder he bought shares - the abject shame and embarrassment probably had a hand in that. - What happened to the Paul Mines purchase Mud was forecasting the other day?

Be yet another cash call soon based on that profligacy - still, that sort of thing won't bother mud or van who are only interested in positives.

If you want to only believe positive things then crack on.

You won't be the first naïve newbie to wander into BIOM ,think it is a pot of gold, and wander out poorer.

I've not called anyone stupid for buying at 65p and you ought to retract facetious comments like that if you want to retain any credibility.

should you change your moniker to excitednaivenewbie? not my place to say as I don't know much about you.

BTW

Try and find a time, over the past 6 years, when the Bioplastics market wasn't booming and forecast for massive growth. Always been the case but means jack if you can't sell your products.

Compare BIOM's sales/revenue etc against all those growth charts of the bioplastics market over any given period and you will see that the problem isn't the market.

Well,Glyn10, BIOM are undoubtedly in the right place at the right time.

Published yesterday in New York,

"World demand to skyrocket 19% annually through 2017."

Global demand for biobased and biodegradable plastics will rise 19 percent per year to 950,000 metric tons in 2017. The bioplastics industry, while still in the emerging growth phase, has established itself as a fixture in a number of commercial markets and applications. Robust growth in demand is expected in virtually all geographic markets, stimulated by consumer preferences for sustainable materials, the increased adoption of bioplastics by plastic processors and compounders, and new product development that expands the range of uses for bioplastics.

Despite the rapid increase in demand, bioplastics are still expected to account for less than one percent of the overall plastic resin market in 2022. The success of the bioplastics industry will ultimately depend on price and performance considerations, and large scale conversion to bioplastics will not occur until price parity with conventional plastic resins is achieved.

Biobased commodity resins to post fastest growth Starch-based resins and polylactic acid (PLA) will remain the leading bioplastic products through 2017, combining to account for over 60 percent of demand. For starch-based resins, advances will be bolstered by increased regulation of conventional plastic products, particularly plastic bags, as governments around the world continue to promote sustainability. PLA demand will benefit from the development of resins and compounds with enhanced performance for more durable applications such as fibers, automotive parts, and electronic parts.

The most rapid gains in demand, however, are expected for biobased commodity resins such as polyethylene and polypropylene, which are just beginning to enter the commercial market. The rapid adoption of these bioplastics will be fueled by their ability to be used as a "drop-in" for existing applications, as well as an increased focus on biobased content rather than biodegradability as a desired attribute. By 2022, biobased polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is also expected to become available in commercial quantities and begin to penetrate the beverage container market."

Whether our BOD can grasp the opportunity remains to be seen.
If they can, then we investors should benefit hugely.imo.

anyone who bought at 0.65p (post consolidation) will have made money (or has had the opportunity to) but most here are long term investors who have lost out and unlikely (IMHO) to break even or return a profit.

News that BIOM has new product/s is positive but still need to make the sales and that is the problem, historically speaking anyway. R+D takes money and without sales generating revenue the R+D will decline, likewise the company. I may be stating the obvious but many people seem to bury their head in the sand......

Fingers crossed that for once we can start selling something in meaningful volumes !

You should change your moniker to embittered88.
In your eyes we were mugs to invest @ 65 pence and will no doubt remain classified as stupid should we take profits as the BIOM share price continues to rise.
Men earning £1 million p.a.do not as a rule either invest, or mess about averaging down, in micro caps;unless that is, they are aware of a goodly measure of potential for future growth.

Don't take it personally - Van is a Paul Mines apologist who defends him at every opportunity and his standard rationale is that anyone that has lost money should walk away nursing their losses.

He's been doing it for years and been completely wrong about BIOM all that time.

BIOM and PM in particular have given lip service to their responsibilities and made many, many bad decisions - the only people attempting to hold them to account are a few shareholders on bulletin boards and via the regulator.

The likes of Van will always justify failure for the likes of Mines and find it easier to have a pop at other shareholders than to even entertain the prospect that the board have failed.

He's not the best at maths either so probably thinks he has made money not lost chunks like every other BIOM shareholder.

Rushton & Parreira are averaging down just like many other shareholders before them.

If Rushton is such a sharp cookie how come he is underwater by the best part of quarter of a million pounds already?

Money does not equate to business acumen when your money is managed by a weak and greedy board.

Hi Van

No I did not miss any broker notices. I know how it works thank you.

This is an open bulletin board and if I chose to use an analogy (that must have escaped you - look it up in a dictionary - analogy with an "a" it comes under a and before b) to describe how BIOM have performed then that's my call :-)

You lwaxf13 seem to have missed the notices on every broker's lists, "The value of shares can go down as well as up."

Putting your money into shares, especially shares in small AIM companies is not like putting your money into a bank savings account it's more like going to the betting shop or buying a lottery ticket, if you can't afford to lose it you shouldn't be here.

Some you win some you lose, you misjudged this one, best let it lie and move on to something else.

If you must have your £1 back you should have banked it in a high interest account. V.

NOT extracted from the scribblings of CEO Paul Mines;yet it must mirror his strategy.

"To be a winner in emerging(Bioplastic) markets, you need to be resilient and invest more to succeed in the long term

Make your objectives clear

I'm often amazed by how short term our industry thinking can be.

To be a winner in these markets, you need to be resilient, prepared to accept setbacks and manage expectations of your shareholders. You also need to be clear about your objectives. For us it's simple - we work for the best companies in the world, and we build capability which matches their plans for growth."

This is BIOM!!! For years they would appear to operate like a not for profit organisation because afterall things are in line with management expectations.

>Because this will fly sooner than we think

Still around .06p in old money and only got to get to over ~£24 to be where it was the day Mr Mines arrived. So if it flies I don't believe Mr Mines should take any credit until it flies above the price it was on the day he arrived.

Its a bit like someone borrows £1 from me. They tell me they lost 94p of it in the street and are not in a position to give me my £1 back. I am not happy and won't be happy until they get my £1 back hopefully with interest to compensate me. Getting 12p back or 36p or any other number less than £1 is of no consolation. They will have failed miserably to look after my £1 unless they return £1 at least.

I would say that The Engineer is not prone to misunderstandings.
Personally,I am waiting for BIOM to generate that email with the promised up date on progress.
Not holding my breath though.

One of our significant holders,Martin Rushton- Taylor (RNS Nov 27 2013)has his skill set summarised as,

"Complex Risk: Evaluation, Pricing, Mitigation & Execution (including negotiation and documentation)
Identifying quickly key issues and drivers and potential resolutions
Specialties: Chartered Accountant (ACA), England & Wales (1990)
Barrister, Middle Temple (1991)
Attorney, New York State (1992)"

"Complex Risk: Evaluation, Pricing".Interesting then that he should be increasing his stake in Biome.

Also interesting is that Victor Ambrose Pereira(increasing stake holder, now exceeding 15%) also boasts a legal/accounting background.
Currently banking and capital markets partner at Deloitte.

Two seemingly exceptionally talented individuals who are demonstrating a growing interest in our micro-cap.
I wonder why.

Interesting wording

'is producing aromatic molecules'

Is producing - not developing, so that suggest that the lignin research has been fruitful as the results in Sept said 'Biome has partnered with Warwick University for this feasibility study which is expected to be completed in Q1 2014'

What was a feasibility study appears to have resulted in production of the Lignin.

Surely that is a powerful piece of news to release or is it 'The engineer' jumping the gun or misunderstanding something?

Good spot JMF69.I read the Mag as a matter of course as my son is an engineer. It is surprising how often Micro Caps receive coverage of one sort or another.

"Tuesday, 03 December 2013

The Engineer

Biome, a UK-based bioplastics producer, is producing aromatic molecules that can be used as additives to enhance durability, strength and flexibility in bioplastics. Currently, bioplastics require additives which are synthesised from petrochemicals, but the new molecules are generated from lignin, a naturally occurring molecule found in wood."
