21/2/2008 11:19 | First smart meters for Scotland Ian Marchant, CEO, Scottish & Southern Energy Perth, U.K. --- (METERING.COM) --- February 13, 2008 Scottish Hydro Electric, part of Scottish and Southern Energy, is the first utility to introduce smart meters to its Scottish customers. The utility provides services to 8.5 million customers, and was recently ranked No. 1 U.K. Domestic Electricity and Gas Supplier in Customer Satisfaction by J.D. Power and Associates the first time any supplier in the U.K. has been ranked No. 1 for both electricity and gas. The smart meter deployment is part of their drive to continue to improve service to customers. The first meters are being trialed in Alyth, with a view to establishing their effect on energy consumption. The meters which will collect data from both electric and gas meters will also provide customers with real-time information about their energy usage, what it is costing them, and what the effect of this usage is having on the environment. The company said that this trial, which is being conducted in association with Alyth Environmental Group (AEG) and Save Cash and Reduce Fuel (SCARF), also involves the use of a wide range of energy efficiency measures with the aim of helping the entire community cut its energy use by 10% over the next two years. | hibberts
10/2/2008 16:59 | I bought some of these just after the IPO but sold out for 62.8p, at circa breakeven, when the credit crunch started in August. Good future potential here so it remains on my watchlist but interim losses of £1.6m on sales of £2.5m doesn't offer much support even at 37p in the current market climate ! | masurenguy
10/2/2008 16:45 | Tipped in today`s Sunday Telegraph. This seems a very quiet thread. Nobody interested? | harrythehorse
14/1/2008 08:44 | Excellent announcement today. First big contract with major energy supplier. This is what the chairman said during the interims... "There are now signs that a number of major energy suppliers are ready to commence large scale installations of smart meters and the Board is confident that the Group will be a leading player in what will be a fast expanding market." Could be the start of a string of announcements... | iandippie

26/9/2007 07:36 | You mean this, I assume ! ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Bglobal plc (AIM: BGBL), the leading provider of smart metering solutions to the energy market, will be holding its Annual General Meeting ("AGM") today at 12 noon at Arkwright House, Arkwright Court, Commercial Road, Darwen, Lancashire BB3 0FG. At the AGM, James Newman, Chairman, will make the following statement: "As indicated at the time of our preliminary results in August, meter installations for our utility customers are behind our first half expectations although the market continues to develop very positively. Negotiations with current and new utility customers are progressing well and we have tendered for a number of new contracts. As a result, we should see an increased rate of installations during the second half of the year. Additionally, there continues to be significant interest from the commercial sector in response to the opportunities and benefits that smart meters can deliver and this area is being targeted by our recently recruited sales team. The Company intends to announce its interim results for the six months to 30 September 2007 in early December." | masurenguy

06/9/2007 15:47 | Got a Strong Buy rec in this months Penny Share Prophet fro Hargreaves Lansdown... Also got a large feature in SCSW this month - but they said it wasnt for them at the moment.. Below is the PSP feature.. Founded in 2004, Bglobal is the leading provider of smart metering solutions for the UK energy market. It joined AIM in April 2007 having raised approximately £7m. Smart metering has been around for a number of years but high energy prices, poor billing performance and pressure from green activists to reduce carbon emissions are currently emphasising its importance. Awareness has also been increased by the Government's recent White Paper on energy. The basic activity of the group is data collection and aggregation, which generates recurring, growing income. While meter installation and operation currently generates the bulk of revenues, as the meter base grows revenues from the data side will become more important. Meters have a working life of around 10 years. Importantly, the group has secured Energy Industry accreditation for both areas of activity. Businesses using Bglobal's services are able to control and monitor their energy usage more effectively. The system is online, allowing remote collection and analysis of up to the minute energy consumption data. Most businesses, regardless of size, can benefit. The next stage in the company's development is already under way. At the moment the main users of smart metering are commercial and government organisations. Bglobal, however, is currently involved in a joint manufacturing and supply agreement with EDMI to develop a new generation of smart meters suitable for deployment in the residential market. EDMI is a premium designer and manufacturer of innovative and technologically advanced electronic energy meters and metering systems. The results for the year to 31/03/07 showed gross revenues up from £291,053 to £2.81m, with gross profits up from £64,158 to £684,578. The figures reflected rapid growth in meter installations, with around 20,000 meters installed at the year end. It is too early to make a profit forecast, but we think that a movement into the black may not be far off. Opinion: The company is rapidly becoming a leader in the provision of the infrastructure to allow businesses and individuals to manage energy usage. The approach is internet based and data driven so could have wider applications. Consider as a strong buy. (Bglobal is quoted on the higher risk Alternative Investment Market. See important investment notes below. We met with the management on 07/08/07). | stegrego
