Hi FSE, thanks for the natlab info. In early jan the first natlab sale was announced but it won’t be delivered until the 2nd half of this year. Do you have any idea why the lead time is so long? Is it a manufacturing issue? Am wondering how many natlab can be produced in a short timespan?

"Ador Diagnostics and Adaltis are developing products that identify multiple infectious diseases (covid19 is one)"

This is pretty meaningless as PCR will identify any kind of cell - all you need is an example of it to 'develop' a test which is quite straightforward. A test which BATM will then be selling for 12p - of course only once the NATlab and test are both approved for use.

Here is a brief description of the PCR test. The method is also used in determining potential birth defects in pregnancy testing. There was a lot of interest in this with biotech investors.

Polymerase chain reaction is a method widely used in molecular biology to rapidly make millions to billions of copies of a specific DNA sample allowing scientists to take a very small sample of DNA and amplify it to a large enough amount to study in detail. PCR was invented in 1983 by Kary Mullis
(he shared the Nobel prize in chemistry for his work)

Explanatory video posted on Ador diagnostics site.

The NATlab - MDx Platform
ADOR proud to introduce a new and exciting Molecular Diagnostics platform that will revolutionize the way small-medium laboratories test for infectious diseases.

The NATlab technology features a benchtop analyser
and a disposable fully-integrated cartridge allowing fully-automatic sample to answer processing of clinical samples, capable of rapid testing (45-90 min) of up to 100 molecular targets within each sample.

Added comment: BATM as a company holds interests through acquisitions and R&D enhancements. They are neither a production nor a marketing company. They hold and develop valuable IP. Ador Diagnostics and Adaltis are developing products that identify multiple infectious diseases (covid19 is one) in a platform that essentially replaces what would have been done in a Lab with a bench-top analyzer. This equipment will be valuable in testing to decide what to open back up again and what to contain.
They are not a dedicated Covid19 tester.
The test at home product for Covid19 which gives a near instant result is expected in a few months.

Trolls out today lead by space_bob.
Last week he told us BATM were under license from Roche or Thermo Fisher. Now he says the process is patented by Roche. What process is that.
Lots of companies make computers and smart phones bob but you know what a lot of them kind of look the same. Cars seem to have that problem they usually have 4 wheels and a method for steering.
BATM by their own admission dont even have a marketing department but you say they are a marketing company.
Idiot .....

Every company on the planet involved with testing is looking to get in the action but no sign of BATM doing anything or am I missing something. The UK is struggling with testing. Can BATM's product help?

The patents will be for things like design of the test trays to try and ensure lock in for tests. The process is designed and patented by Roche. BATM are not much more than a marketing company - there are dozens of companies making exactly the same machines and which have already past trials and been approved.

Hi Kooba, they are trialing a system called Samba II. I agree, it is very similar to natlab which makes me wonder what the 40 natlab patents are for?

heh Baz loved the pic of the label. Also they stress that this test does not just test for covid19 but also for other variants. This is the kind of kit that "all" nursing homes should be obliged to have on site with a helping hand from any government with the NHS and other countries health services being the ultimate beneficiaries. ie a win win scenario. The suite of tests can be tailored from year to year with re supply of appropriate reagents.

Agree, FSE, BVC is much more than the quick fix testing kit, unlike a lot of companies, to get its share price moving, although, as you say, it will be incorporated into its lab platforms which is much more important. Nevertheless, like the vaccines when they come out, it will take years to test everyone and it will be an ongoing process with repeats, as CV, like the flu virus, may mutate regularly.

The Covid_19 test for BATM was never going to be a money spinner for them as they already made it quite clear that they were not going to profit out of a disaster.
The barrage of new test for Covid19 that are coming onto the market are not an alternative to what BATM are doing . BATM have designed a suite of tests that allow testing for the most common known problems with infectious diseases that health departments are likely to encounter and allow them to react. The small footprint and simplicity and speed of these tests is going to be a cornerstone in front line assessment and managing future and on going infectious outbreaks.
Its a huge new market for the company and they are very well aware of that and have been for many years.

In doubt are the 2300 that tested negative despite being exposed to the virus and they were exposed. We simply don't know the susceptibility to infection and until they can screen the antibodies in people exposed but who never contracted it I am not talking about asymptomatic.... we just wont know.
Until we have random testing that will show those asymptomatic numbers we are missing in the overall infected case numbers, we can not make any conclusions.
I have a background in Maths but not medicine so we likely look at this from the other end of the spectrum.

I agree with you over flattening out and hopefully thats what we are now starting to see. Its a nightmare for Hospitals who will have so many people on ventilators and for way longer than viral pneumonia. Anything we can do to help ease that burden will save lives.

BATM had a busy week and the way this has panned out has really brought a focus on the absolute importance of exhaustive testing where its needed. There will be re emergences of this virus and as we get past the worst and start to re open business the need for testing is going to be essential in determining how and where controls are lifted.

OT for those like me stuck in the house...Anyone not seen the F1 series on Netflix well worth watching have a safe weekend ;-)
