Analysts reckon share prices of many big banks could be on the verge of a hefty jump.

Ahead of a spate of company results this week, one analyst says bank stocks look 'outrageously cheap'.

Ian Gordon, banking analyst at Investec, said Barclays, Lloyds and Royal Bank of Scotland – all of which are set to post third-quarter numbers – were likely to produce 'relatively clean' figures, marginally ahead of the market's expectations.

It is the end of Theresa May and her Chequers or the end of the Conservative Party - Conservative MP's take your pick.

Theresa May faces 'show trial' by Tory MPs as one senior plotter shockingly tells her to 'bring your own noose'

Not sure why institutional holders have to wait for Bramson?...are they not allowed to make their own voices heard for a change?...or they are sheep & Yes Sir types...

The lower it falls the more receptive the institutional holders will be to any radical plans bramson has.

Cameron gave UK voters the vote IN/OUT...he should have been made to stay as PM until Brexit and then a general election...where is the loyalty?...

This pos needs putting out of its misery, ever since management stitched up shareholders diluting them and not giving them a chance to buy in during melt down but selling a stake at reduced price to mid east investors, this has just been one long horror story...management past and present need locking up...all the uk banks pretty dire, for all the hype lloyds a basket case too....can see these back at 1.20....probably just needs breaking up and selling off to create some shareholder returns, could do the same with about half of the brexit disaster ftse which seems to be becomming almost uninvestable....except for Woodford who likes losing (other peoples ) money.

Barclays (Q3 update 24 October)

It has been a tough time for UK banks, and Barclays has not escaped the malaise. A potential downgrade of UK banks in the event of a no-deal Brexit has weighed on the sector, and a 29% drop in first-half profit has not helped sentiment. However, it does trade at just 0.4 times book value, and is currently on a forward price-earnings (PE) of 7.3, versus a five-year average of 9.5. This is the cheapest level since early 2016 and at such a level much of the potential bad news surrounding the UK economy and potential charges arising from the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) investigations are broadly factored in.

Traders have been selling the rallies in UK banks over the summer, and any rebound needs to clear the 175p-180p zone, which marks the September highs. Further declines will target 151p and then 138p.

m1 . yes that's the problem we have been lied to for 10 years ,

put me in charge I would cleanout the dead wood called directors in weeks with out a pay off I would make them explain why they are liars and failures ,
once I had got rid of these non jobs , sell off the I/b

mc liar would be asked why he is a dud how did he get the job has he useless and dishonest which has spread though the bank . saying if the chairman is dishonest that means its ok to tell lies and tell clients anything

Porty.......I guess, as usual, we are all waiting to hear what they have to say on results day.
This happens every time.

We raise our expectations leading up to the results day and Barc fails to deliver ....

Why should this quarter be any different ?
All I can say is that Bramson must be exerting some pressure.
Across the pond, Banks are reporting increased profits
BARC should have positive news BUT we have all bee here before wayyyyyy toooo many times.

If jes doiesn't deliver this time, I think he can wave goodbye but unfortunately, anyone replacing him will say it's going to take another 3 - 5 years to implement their recovery strategy.
