03/4/2009 07:49 | Janes Bond - A very reasoned post. Thanks. We don't get many on this thread these days. There was a suggestion that you are re-named previous poster. If you are you've changed a lot and frankly I don't care, but welcome to the thread. | kenbachelor
03/4/2009 07:45 | need a rocket pic put up, up we go | ejohn3
03/4/2009 07:44 | 170 is back ;) | ozzmosiz
03/4/2009 07:44 | grahamite Depending on the definition of "long term", from 2007 to 2009, the shares have fallen in value. From almost 800p to present values. That's fairly long term and a huge drop, in my opinion. I agree that some banks will recover. However, we could say BARC has already recovered from lows. I think 190p is possible medium term and much volatility before that. Mainly due to good and bad news filtering through, as the world economies sort themselves out. | janes bond
03/4/2009 07:43 | crystalblue/red/yell How is your short? Told you to *hut up last night and make sure you remian *hut or else join the queue alongwith BLAP/Smlegy and elssworth :> | veryhappy
03/4/2009 07:41 | Still predicting a rise on 9th April !!! Today last day for off setting losses for tax year end. Good opportunity of buying next week (excepting the 30 day ruling for tax purposes) RSA still down (still in ex div period) no apparent reason otherwise. | chancer
03/4/2009 07:36 | good morning, not too many posts from me today next leg up to 184p coming, possible ishare news later today we will close near 200p further sentiment that the recession is coming to an end... HONG KONG (AP) -- Asian stock markets climbed Friday after the world's major powers pledged more than $1 trillion to combat the global economic crisis and China's hard-hit factories showed signs of new life. | gordonbrown
03/4/2009 07:34 | I do not agree that the long term chart shows a clearly intact downtrend, rather the formation of an inverse head and shoulders. There probably isn't any hurry to buy but soon we should see banks starting in earnest back to more sensible levels. | grahamite2
03/4/2009 07:32 | Latest short postion on Barclays. % of shorts just fallen again in 1st half hour of trading! | dot com
03/4/2009 07:31 | well said James | nickiegaul
03/4/2009 07:29 | Number of posts generally decreases when the shares go up. Most people it seems are trying to trade the shares and keep slicing, when it goes up they withdraw themselves or come out with stupid comments like BLAP, Monty and smelgy. I think some of them may need therapy. | isis
03/4/2009 07:27 | Thanks for the responses folk. Wenlynn appears to think that I have many guises. Rest assured, that's not the case. We have far more important things to concentrate on than using multiple identities. The PI could be abbreviations for Private Investigator in Wenlynns case. Unfortunately, we are mere Private Investors! - We can't change the markets, but we can try to use them to our advantage. We might get a tight trading band today. Not much news around. Perhaps time to prepare for a good weekend. On that note, I will wish you all a good one. | janes bond
03/4/2009 07:25 | lab-perhaps you are one of the people he was referring to.The fact that BARC has trebled in a short space of time in itself hints that there will be a retracement in the short term at least. There are plenty of both bull and bear points to be made for BARC.Personally i think in the short term the move will be down, not least because world markets have also had a strong run. | jwe
03/4/2009 07:20 | Halifax house price index to be released at 9. If it is positive I expect BARC to rapidly go to 180p. | wenlynn
03/4/2009 06:59 | Yes agreed excellent points by Janes there. | d0ubtf1re
03/4/2009 06:59 | Of course you can draw the lines on the chart with a little artistic license. This stock has nearly trebled in value in a short space of time surely breaking the downtrend but this chart belies that. The angles at which the lines are drawn only have to be changed by a fraction to give a different interpretation, or the time frame changed. | lab305
03/4/2009 06:58 | Yes good balanced post | jwe
03/4/2009 06:30 | Janes Bond, good post, not many posted on here. lol wispa | wispaman
