08/8/2013 15:19 | Santander will never fully recover until Spain gets to grips with it property issue. The problem is whilst many people want Spanish property -they won't buy it any more because of the corruption the greedy taxes and charges on everything including the inheritance tax that means its difficult to pass it on to your family. Santander may be reasonable but its reasonable for sad reasons so don't get carried away ! (Yes Keith Zarzuela in the big pans ! But remember the Armada Spanish can be very chavvy -Pirates! scoop their divis !) | 4spiel
08/8/2013 15:10 | .... and I have had a Santander current account since the takeover of A&L .. so might as well look to get some dosh back... | keith95
08/8/2013 15:09 | Always a worry after being burned on banks in 2007 with the very high yield ,... but I have to say .. the investor centre from Santander Website absolutely superb. Trawling through the analysts reports: There was an interesting point that Santander's credit rating is constrained by an upper limit based upon the Kingdom of Spain's credit rating ... but of course Santander has lots of assets in different countries .. so it looks undervalued to me (but what do I know).... | keith95
08/8/2013 14:32 | True no witholding tax but theoretically when you sell they are liable to Spanish Capital gains if holdings over 1500euros but unless you have assets in Spain don't think they can get you - if! they find you. My account now shows leedslad a new dividend entry with the right number of divi shares followed by BANO SANTRFD but then just 0 in the cash columns -strangely in the sterling section and not in the euro section. Still puzzling! | 4spiel
08/8/2013 13:14 | Agree same here | leedslad001
08/8/2013 12:59 | Any buy under £5 is a steal imo and a steady dividend to boot which over the past 3 years I have re-invested. When I come to sell the lot I will sure see some capital gain rather than fritter away the yearly divi and no Spanish withholding tax to pay by this method | acamas
08/8/2013 12:55 | welcome on board. Good luck | leedslad001
08/8/2013 12:52 | Joined the club today ... was watching from 4.40 ... but sold some LLOY and in. | keith95
08/8/2013 08:40 | Just need to push through £4.80 and stay above for a while then its £5.50 next stop. Great share to own for divi and growth imho | leedslad001
07/8/2013 18:53 | Presumably the 8th or 9th It is envisaged that the relevant authorisations for the admission to listing of the new shares in the Spanish Stock Exchanges will be granted on August 8, 2013, so that ordinary trading of such shares in Spain will commence on August 9, 2013. The authorisation for the admission to listing of those shares will also be requested on all other stock exchanges on which Banco Santander is listed. | call-logger
07/8/2013 17:45 | Great leedslad. TDW did email me about this but on my notebook the corporate actions is just off the edge so having read the circular I just ignored it ! But when this little 'optional dividend'turned up I thought surely they would not rig it to sell it as rights and pocket the money. I just don't believe they are that bad -but it did worry me !I will post you when I get it ! | 4spiel
07/8/2013 17:27 | 4spiel you will get the shares. the small amount in your account is the balance of the bit of cash against the offer. I have the same in my account TDW have a divi reinvestment option | leedslad001
07/8/2013 17:09 | 4spiel - your broker should have communicated with you in advance to offer the scrip or cash. Some will just offer one or the other but they should inform you of their policy. I'm with IWeb and they only offer the scrip (which I'm more than happy with). | dendria
07/8/2013 17:01 | I received a small 'optional divi' in my broker account. I read the 'eleccion' notice of July 11th and clearly says if you make no 'eleccion' you get shares.I wanted shares. Am I the only lemon ? Not saying which broker. | 4spiel

30/7/2013 08:09 | CI price looks to fall back a shade from 475 so maybe bulls should wait, deut, bank-4% & barc seemed to have ruined the day, 1/8 2yr wait for punters who held lloy at 71p from 2011 could be a good % mover now, 80p first target nai | mike24

30/7/2013 07:56 | Madrid, July 30, 2013 'This performance will enable the Bank to maintain its shareholder remuneration unchanged from 2012. It expects to distribute four scrip option dividends of approximately EUR 0.15 a share each, which shareholders can opt to receive in cash or shares. This represents shareholder remuneration of EUR 0.60 a share for the fifth consecutive year.' Good news for divi but they are under regulatory pressure to reduce it. | dendria
30/7/2013 07:32 | Madrid, July 30, 2013 - 'Banco Santander made an attributable profit of EUR 2,255 million in the first half of the year, which was a 29% increase on the same period last year and practically the same as the result for the whole of 2012 (EUR 2,295 million).' | dendria
25/7/2013 16:44 | Just a matter of sitting and watching it go up over the next 2 years and collect that divi as we go. Got an isa full of these so very happy to hold as long as it takes back up to £7. | leedslad001

23/7/2013 12:02 | chart looking good, 475 first target santander taking around 4days from mortgage application to survey nationwide b/society taking around 4wks, understaffed, a bloody shambles this am on the beeb business prog, distinguished guest says economists are baffled by employment figs holding up, and the reason for that is pay is kept low by agencies supplying labour at up to 30% below full time employees, who in turn keep the pressure on to perform without the strikes and strife as in EU, which means the transfer of more jobs and investment to the UK, and a sharp increase in gdp should been seen over next 12months nai touched a high of 474.5 edit 2nd qtr figs good, now for float? | mike24
