08/2/2013 08:29 | I forgot to say good to see all the RNS this morning. I didn't read them all but they seem to be keeping their shares and building up their holdings. They obviously like the divi too and have a long term interest in the company. | melton john
08/2/2013 08:03 | I bought back part of my holding so blame me for the drop :-( NYSE:SAN looked better last night fingers crossed. | melton john
08/2/2013 05:25 | SP dropping a little...where the hell has Sanks got to? | harmonics
31/1/2013 19:01 | I'm happy with the quarterly scrips. I note while we are waiting for our Jan/Feb scrip shares, they have announced the timetable for the Apr/May scrip today. | dendria
31/1/2013 18:19 | A question was asked at the 2012 results call today regarding the dividend policy, to which the CEO's reply was ".. we will continue to offer scrip dividend, at least in 2013 and probably partly or wholly also in 2014" | lynton3
31/1/2013 08:20 | Sold on a gut feeling yesterday. I think the market still doesn't understand this company. The Bloomberg comment paints a much gloomier picture than I got from a quick look at the results. | melton john
31/1/2013 07:46 | Bloomberg comment on results: Banco Santander SA (SAN) posted a fourth-quarter profit that missed analyst estimates as Spain's biggest lender set aside money for further loan losses in its home market and earnings slumped in Brazil and Britain. Profit rose to 401 million euros ($543.4 million) from 47 million euros in the year-earlier period when the bank took one-time costs including a 1.8 billion-euro charge to cover real-estate losses, the Santander, Spain-based bank said in a regulatory filing today. Earnings missed the 801.6 million-euro average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. | dendria
24/1/2013 15:07 | Welcome, not the busiest board it has to be said, but a 10% rise plus the divi since I bought is a good alternative to losing money elsewhere. | melton john
24/1/2013 14:59 | Bought a few today in for the long term. | leedslad001
22/1/2013 20:51 | Well that rumour was quashed. Lot of small sells here driving the price down until NYSE opened. Keeps testing resistance and looks ready for a break through. Anybody interested should look at NYSE:SAN, things like Santander looking to increase business in Brazil sounds good. | melton john
20/1/2013 15:08 | Rumour of bid from Santander UK for Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank. | melton john
18/1/2013 14:34 | A hold according to British Bulls. Any sells seem to be picked up by careful buyers. | melton john
16/1/2013 17:28 | This pull back is mainly the ex-dividend effect - trading of the (scrip) rights started yesterday (Tue 15) - it'll settle down in a week or two. | dendria
16/1/2013 11:33 | It looks like a predictable pull back while short term holders take profits. I didn't join in as I foresee the uptrend continuing after a small dip. Like harmonics, I plan on adding on a big drop as the divi is the immediate attraction, but as well there is a big chance of capital growth as Santander expand. Could be wrong, I've held on to stocks too long before but I've also sold others too early. | melton john
16/1/2013 06:16 | Hi Sanks, I hope your well? How is the wealth transfer business going? You have got two hopes of 313p: 1) Bob Hope 2) No Hope I hold long here and provided Santander keep paying the 10%+ dividend I am not too worried where the share price goes and if it fell below 450p I would buy more. Good dividend paying stocks are getting thinner of late. Regards to Sheila | harmonics
15/1/2013 14:34 | Its been bubbled up like many of the banks on recent US tax negotiations..tempor Hope it helps | sanks
11/1/2013 19:47 | Latest scrip dividend details announced, unfortunately my broker only does cash. So that's minus 21% then. :-( | pvb
11/1/2013 19:20 | Scrip is 1 for 41. | dendria
10/1/2013 22:48 | A lot of research material under their NYSE ticker code SAN. I found this on Yahoo finance | melton john
10/1/2013 22:16 | Cheers Dendria, I'm not an expert on the subject of banks but I like what I see at my branch and they're certainly an improvement on Barclays. | melton john
10/1/2013 18:42 | MJ - I think you got in just in time. BNC about to take off mainly powered by SAN in US - unusually heavy interest there. Terms of next dividend due to be declared tomorrow (Fri 11/1) - I take the scrip so more shares for me. | dendria
07/1/2013 09:58 | I recently bought in. My reasons were that I like the company ( I moved my bank account from Barclays ) but also they seem to be oversold because of being Spanish. This article I read explains that they are diversified into South, Central and North America. Will £7 be the next stop? | melton john
07/1/2013 08:48 | Basel asset rules eased. 500 has been taken out - it has got interesting - looks like a breakout. | dendria
30/11/2012 22:57 | I reckon the bottom could be in, but won't be buying, if it takes £5.00 out things could get interesting ! | mreasygoing |
