19/2/2024 14:30 | @chief LMT (Lockheed Martin) was at $386 on 18 Feb 2022, for a gain of 9.8%. Surprise! It was $458 at the beginning of March 2022, so the share price is actually down. It's on a trailing PE of 15. Go figure. RTX, formerly Ratheon, is an aero and defence co., has gone from $93 to $91 over 2 years. It's on a PE of 41, mind. Meanwhile, back in the UK, BAB is up "only" 56% in 2 years, whilst QQ is 51%. Go figure. | blippy3
19/2/2024 12:25 | Pretty impressive for the pathetic UK markets. Wonder how it's done relative to the big US peers. | chiefbrody

14/2/2024 14:25 | Further to the announcement of 17 August 2023, BAE Systems has now received the necessary regulatory approvals and will be executing steps in the coming days to complete the acquisition of Ball Aerospace from Ball Corporation. The final transaction is expected to close at a purchase price of $5.5 billion (approximately £4.4 billion), which will be funded through existing cash and new external debt. The transaction will be treated as an asset purchase for federal tax purposes, with an expected net present value tax benefit of c.$750m making the underlying economic consideration for the business c.$4.8bn. | ribblewader
14/2/2024 09:00 | BAE Systems will provide advanced electromagnetic warfare (EW) mission systems for aircraft 7-10 in the U.S. Air Force’s growing fleet of EA-37B aircraft. The next-generation Baseline 4 mission systems will deliver powerful, long-range electromagnetic attack capabilities to disrupt and suppress the enemy’s use of the electromagnetic spectrum for communications, navigation, and air defense. | ribblewader
12/2/2024 15:48 | BAE Systems has been selected by Boeing to upgrade and modernize the vehicle management system computer (VMSC) for the U.S. Navy’s MQ-25 unmanned aerial refueling system. The technology refresh will increase computing power and address obsolescence issues, providing the unmanned aerial tanker with an integrated solution that improves aircraft performance and allows for future capability growth. | ribblewader
11/2/2024 22:57 | I see that the POW was in dock for 9 months in 2022 with the prop shaft issue. Now I am a pretty slow mechanic but I don't think I could stretch a prop shaft repair that long... Mind you I guess it must be a pretty big shaft . The delay in the QE this time is rather embarrassing too for the RN , having spent so much the flagships are not exactly showing their value at the moment. Perhaps not a valid comparison, but would you rather have an aircraft carrier or 10 million cheap drones? | wad collector |
