When I was subbie on F35. ALIS was the most frustrating "tool" we had. A pain to get into, dropped off line, refused to accept data and then finding out the next day (or possibly week) that another supplier had put in an update that made your input not in the right format...... Good to see this

F-35 ALIS logistic system to be replaced

The fault plagued Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS) for the F-35 will be replaced by the new Operational Data Integrated Network (ODIN).

From the above article......

At each site in Barrow, Raynesway, and Burghfield new facilities are being built to further the projects needs overall. The estimated delay in the report shows Barrow's site to be only 1.7 years delayed which is much shorter than the other two which are 5.1 and 6.3 years delayed.

Challenger 2 Life Extension Programme decision due late 2020

Teams led by Rheinmetall Landsystem and BAE Systems had been chosen as preferred bidders for the assessment phase by the MoD. The Rheinmetall consortium includes BMT, Pearson Engineering, Supacat, and Thales UK and includes an option to retrofit Rheinmetall’s 120mm L55 smoothbore gun should additional funds be made available. The BAE team includes General Dynamics UK, Qinetiq, Leonardo, Moog and Safran.

Use of floating drydocks ruled out for Queen Elizabeth carriers

Floating dry docks aren’t new but docking ships the size of larger aircraft carriers is relatively infrequent. Even the recent dual docking of two US Navy Destroyers (pictured above) took remarkable planning, skill, and extreme precision say BAE Systems.



Not forgetting the Russian one that sank last year!
