Some interesting stats in this article......

Russian Aircraft Carrier Will Not Get Salvaged and Repaired

....U.S. fleet in total displaces 4.6 million tons of water. The Chinese fleet displaces 1.8 million tons. The Russian fleet displaces just 1.2 million tons. The Russian Navy has really lost its one aircraft carrier. The Russian fleet is probably only 1.1 million tons

The U.S. fleet can carry around 12,000 offensive missiles. Chinese ships in total can carry 5,200 missiles. Russia’s fleet packs no more than 3,300.

Two Destroyers,One Drydock

The docking of the USS Stethem and USS Decatur is the first tandem docking of DDGs since 2012, when BAE Systems collaborated with the Navy to dual dock the USS Mason (DDG 87) and USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) at its Norfolk, Virginia shipyard. Collaboration and capability were key with those two destroyers, and it was no different this time in San Diego.

shalder. Yes Bahrain is more liberal than other Arab states regarding drinking, which was nice. But, the penalty for theft can still be the loss of a hand. You should have seen the look on the faces of the three sailors when they had sobered up and told what they COULD expect. The case caused a minor diplomatic flurry at the time. They were shipped home straight from police cells! I dont think they ever returned to the ship.

shalder. In 97 I was in Bahrain (supporting Nimrod and VC10 at Muharraq) over the Christmas period. HMS Illustrious called in to Sitra for a few days for crew change and Logs Support. I was one of the POCs for Out of Hours issues (like drunken sailors "liberating" a 6' plastic Donald Duck from outside a store!). I was "rewarded" with a trip to the CPOs mess for drinkies and a tour of the ship. Fortunately the tour was done with before we hit the Bar as I dont remember much after that! I do recall that the hanger space was smaller than I thought, but it could be fully flooded within 5 mins with sea water in case of fire/explosion........It was a great experience

UK MoD orders over 500 Boxers

Delivery is expected to start in 2023, and most of the vehicles for the British Army will be produced in the UK, principally at plants operated by Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) and KMW’s subsidiary WFEL (www.wfel.com).

This order marks the return of the UK to a European defence programme, having taken part in the Boxer project when it was still in its infancy. Boxer is now on its way to becoming one of NATO’s standard vehicles.

Been a long time coming and more than once looked like it would never happen: lovely photos. In my youth I was with one of the companies bidding for the CVA-01 carrier to replace Ark Royal when the project was cancelled by the Wilson government in 1966. fwiw its kind of interesting that despite all the technology changes in half a century, the new ships are approx the same size as the CVA- 01 designs.
