Wonder what this share price weakness is about ; another few pence will buy some back for me. 575 will do. Maybe not today but...

Ribble I can confidently tell you that there is no Navel side to BAE , at least I hope not. There is a Naval side however...

I think this is a smart BAE response to John Parker's report which specifically excludes building the Type 31s at Govan. This way the project still has major BAE input both in design capability and also systems manufacture and supply at a time when Barrow will be busy with astute and Successor, and Portsmouth no longer involved in shipbuilding. As said, co-operation between BAE (Vickers) and CL is nothing new - Polaris SSBN and the Upholders. It would also be fantastic to see CL building real ships again.

Minerve, I dont have that much background in the Navel side of the business (I worked for many years in the Air side). But, my tuppence is. BAE only have Barrow, Portsmouth, Clyde as manufacturing with collaberation with other shipbuilders in other shipyards (Mersey, Tyne etc). But I do recall, a few years ago of an initiative, put forward by the government of the time to share/partner all shipbuilding in the UK. So although BAE only have a few shipyards, access to capabilities could be on a shared bassis (depending on work type, E.G QE Carriers manufactured in module form)

BAE and Cammell Laird have often worked/teamed together and even though CL are prime they are still using the Leander design. Cant see why it would hit the share price so hard

Could it be related to BAE not being the prime bidder for the 31e Frigates???

Is the Typhoon missing out to its competitors and destined to remain the Junior partner in F35 production?
This is the gist of an article at the weekend fuelled by the job cuts.

Imagine what would happen here under a Corbyn govt. Mind you , there would be no need for weapons in his peaceful world..
I wonder what message the redundancies send out to prospective and current customers ; faith in the Typhoon?

All disappointing Minerve.

UK Govt should be slashing For Aid and spending 3%-3.5% GDP on Defence imo.War is coming. We are woefully ill prepared.

well charts says its heading back for new highs, maybe wrong, but just look at that chart for the last 7 years. With this going ex divi on 19/10 cant see this being sold off unless the Saudis don't play ball and give some bad news.
