01/11/2017 20:38 | So, OK, who is going to be next? | minerve
01/11/2017 15:27 | Wonder what this share price weakness is about ; another few pence will buy some back for me. 575 will do. Maybe not today but... | wad collector
20/10/2017 08:24 | Wad, the Navy have been Navel gazzing since the time our Naval force was given a fleet to bob about on the ocean blue! Sorry, I'll get me coat..... its hanging next to my RAF station plaques! | ribblewader
19/10/2017 18:59 | Ribble I can confidently tell you that there is no Navel side to BAE , at least I hope not. There is a Naval side however... | wad collector
19/10/2017 18:33 | I think this is a smart BAE response to John Parker's report which specifically excludes building the Type 31s at Govan. This way the project still has major BAE input both in design capability and also systems manufacture and supply at a time when Barrow will be busy with astute and Successor, and Portsmouth no longer involved in shipbuilding. As said, co-operation between BAE (Vickers) and CL is nothing new - Polaris SSBN and the Upholders. It would also be fantastic to see CL building real ships again. | shalder
19/10/2017 15:32 | Thanks Ribble. I am a complete outsider so any information like that is helpful. :) | minerve
19/10/2017 15:09 | Minerve, I dont have that much background in the Navel side of the business (I worked for many years in the Air side). But, my tuppence is. BAE only have Barrow, Portsmouth, Clyde as manufacturing with collaberation with other shipbuilders in other shipyards (Mersey, Tyne etc). But I do recall, a few years ago of an initiative, put forward by the government of the time to share/partner all shipbuilding in the UK. So although BAE only have a few shipyards, access to capabilities could be on a shared bassis (depending on work type, E.G QE Carriers manufactured in module form) | ribblewader
19/10/2017 13:02 | BAE and Cammell Laird have often worked/teamed together and even though CL are prime they are still using the Leander design. Cant see why it would hit the share price so hard | ribblewader
19/10/2017 12:55 | Could it be related to BAE not being the prime bidder for the 31e Frigates??? | minerve
19/10/2017 12:13 | Ex divi date fall a bit steep! | ribblewader
16/10/2017 12:41 | Is the Typhoon missing out to its competitors and destined to remain the Junior partner in F35 production? This is the gist of an article at the weekend fuelled by the job cuts. | wad collector
16/10/2017 11:42 | Via Morsons....... ;-) | ribblewader
16/10/2017 11:25 | Yes on double the pay. | vikingwarrier
16/10/2017 11:21 | And then get offered a new contract when something else turns up.. | wad collector
10/10/2017 21:37 | Well what happens is the over 55s take redundency of 70k | ccraig69
10/10/2017 19:35 | Add build aircraft carriers with no planes ... lol Rocket Man will be laughing .. | pal44
10/10/2017 12:41 | Imagine what would happen here under a Corbyn govt. Mind you , there would be no need for weapons in his peaceful world.. I wonder what message the redundancies send out to prospective and current customers ; faith in the Typhoon? | wad collector
10/10/2017 12:01 | All disappointing Minerve. UK Govt should be slashing For Aid and spending 3%-3.5% GDP on Defence imo.War is coming. We are woefully ill prepared. | fangorn2
10/10/2017 11:09 | 2000 jobs gone and nobody here bats an eyelid! Hey ho, nevermind eh? | minerve
09/10/2017 13:59 | That is a lot of jobs and skills down the tubes. Tories will begin to have them all re-trained as brickies. LOL | minerve
09/10/2017 10:56 | Thanks Phil, been on the cards for a long time and a lot of people were hoping it had disappeared! Not a very good time to announce it though (Politically and Economically) | ribblewader
09/10/2017 10:46 | BAE Systems to axe over 1,000 UK jobs amid Typhoon slowdown | philanderer
21/9/2017 21:10 | well charts says its heading back for new highs, maybe wrong, but just look at that chart for the last 7 years. With this going ex divi on 19/10 cant see this being sold off unless the Saudis don't play ball and give some bad news. | evianone |
