04/8/2016 07:12 | Interim Dividend UP 10% Now 7.42 p Paid 17 Nov 2016 | togglebrush
04/8/2016 07:05 | Mark Wilson, Group Chief Executive Officer, said: "Operating profits are up 13% and the dividend is up 10%. We are delivering consistent, stable and predictable growth despite challenging market conditions. "Our UK businesses delivered encouraging results. We are growing in the UK, we are investing in the UK. We like the UK. And we are also benefitting from Aviva's diversity, with 42% of our earnings1 coming from outside of the UK. "The 10% increase in the dividend, up 32% since 2013, is another step towards our target pay-out ratio of 50% and underpins our confidence in delivering sustainable and growing returns. "We are continuing to maintain a strong balance sheet, with a solvency ratio of 174%2,3, toward the upper end of our working range. "Aviva's strong financial position and diversity mean we are well insulated from external events. We have deliberately designed Aviva to be resilient to a low interest rate environment. "We remain confident in our ability to deliver on our key commitments to grow earnings, cash and dividends." | zho
03/8/2016 17:48 | Yes I echo that, good luck... This has been up past 3.92 for weeks now | mj19
03/8/2016 17:16 | Good luck to all ? | nicksoj
03/8/2016 15:47 | Good luck Dr, I'm tempted but already have too many of these. | uppompeii
03/8/2016 14:47 | My biggest single holdings are GSK/AV/BARC/SL - the financials have all been hit hard by brexit and I am underwater on the last two. My average here is pretty good, particularly if you include the dividends. Its been a long term core holding for me. I am hopeful for tomorrow - hence the SB. | dr biotech
03/8/2016 14:02 | MJ I am in sl. For the long term so watching with interest here for tomorrow's rns. Fingers crossed it gives the sector a boost...imho brexit is overdone in this sector...lets see.Be lucky to all and fingers crossed for all AV. Longs. | chesty1
03/8/2016 13:51 | Anyone holding for results tomorrow | mj19
03/8/2016 11:09 | Yes - BB was essentially fraudulent as they ignore the less favourable clinical results. I went to a talk by Chris Evans (the entrepreneur not the DJ!) whilst at uni and he inspired me to follow the sector. FWIW he was an excellent speaker and charismatic person after the event. I didn't have BB - I did have Chiroscience which did very well, but then I picked a whole series of duds - Regen/Ark/Ardana/Phy I wouldn't touch a bio now - all run by CEOs with EGOs the size of planets and most end in failure. Some exceptions of course, GWP/SKP seem to have done well recently, but I don't have them. | dr biotech
03/8/2016 10:46 | Yes do you remember British Biotech many years ago?...that was a disaster for me!!... | diku
03/8/2016 10:36 | I think it takes the emotion out of it. I am a biochemist of sorts, and I used to invest in biotechs which was very interesting and but was a financial disaster. With the funds I seem them as a buy and hold infinitum sort of investment. Perhaps that is equally bad. Now my buys are only from the dividends I have received. I am also partial to the odd SB - but that is strictly limited to a few hundred quid at most. That is the total risk, not the amount per point. | dr biotech
03/8/2016 09:53 | Do you really wanna give your money to those fundies? | diku
03/8/2016 09:35 | I have done that too. Roughly 75% of my meagre wealth is in trackers/cash/funds, only 25% is in directly held shares, of which this makes up about 15. Feels significant but isn't really. I came to the decision that there are people who are better than me at investing, and it's les hassle. Having said that some of the funds haven't exactly shone either. | dr biotech
03/8/2016 08:55 | Don't remind me Dr. I did well purely down to buying in the 180's after the crash and having a few lucky guesses on spread bets. Got caught out on that divi cut though like many and the 20% fall in the aftermath. I still hold a few too many in my sipp and isa but not the huge percentages of yore...happy to let others do the work in funds these days and I just hold a few individual shares like this one now, mostly from profit share/saye schemes.I sleep better and don't check everyday. Bracke can do that for me.... | uppompeii
03/8/2016 08:27 | Fwiw opened a small sb at 382, hoping for positive things.... | dr biotech
03/8/2016 08:00 | Yes, when this BB was thriving and we were all trying to guess whether Moss was going to raise the dividend to some unbelievable level to cover up his huge pay rise and the general underperformance. Or to find out who he was shagging in the boardroom. But as my needs have changed I prefer the steadier leadership that Wilson has bought. | dr biotech
03/8/2016 07:44 | Oh but what days they were Dr! | uppompeii
02/8/2016 20:33 | Generally under Wilson AV have underpromised and over delivered. I have learned to look forward to results day rather than to fear it when we had the previous CEO | dr biotech
02/8/2016 19:42 | Yes hopefully an underperformance and a downturn in the markets to pull them down. However I do have a sneaky suspicion they maybe quite good. | bigdazzler
02/8/2016 16:53 | All eyes on Aviva for half year results this Thursday. | chesty1
29/7/2016 08:38 | I disagree. Job cuts perhaps were unfairly blamed on brexit when it's more about people going online and not using branches. However the so dropped as the ceo said the outlook was uncertain, at least in part to the vote. | dr biotech |
