reporting on CNBC that Buffett has sold lots of shares including half of his Apple stake.
Apple shares are down 7% in pre market trading.

Buffett is a smart guy and worth watching.

When asked why he was holding so much cash and missing out on the market recently he said it was not so much cash ino a worst case scenario.
He could not see anything worth buying.

My take on the above two posts is both are right.

The issues reported from the likes of Mcdonalds, UPS, Starbucks and Pepsi etc is a slowdown in that the lower paid drop out the market. That right now doesn't really impact hotels / restaurants etc but will do eventually as unemployment ticks up and creates more uncertainty just like we are seeing right now.

It's then that the night out / weekends away etc start to be stopped / reduced and it's then the downturn gathers pace.

The FED wanted that so as to cool inflation and stop it bouncing back up when interest rates are cut but as always be careful what you wish for.

Good luck all 👍🏻

Careful, my recent visit to West Coast USA showed a confident booming economy. Hotel occupancy good, workers happy , prices high including fuel, restaurants full.
If anything shortage of workers in Vegas . There was however massive homeless persons in all major cities

I have accumulated cash for a proper correction but it never happens.
A quick pullback now and then, but not one where fear grips the market and investors rush to the door whilst they can still get out with some cash.
We have not experienced capitulation for a while.

It will happen if the real economy in America slows.
Home sales, car sales collapse, people stop travelling and eating out etc;
Then jobs are lost , vacancies high.

it happens quickly and there are already signs.

If the share is still good to pay its dividend then it's time to indulge!

If you are a trader....perhaps
But for us Investors in solid dividend paying shares like AV and LGEN, and no need to raise capital...we will collect our dividends pay our bills and book our holidays!
Absolutely no need to panic, see you on the other side

PS: The prospect of falling interest rates will no doubt produce even more BPA business

Time for calm fellow Investors
Either put your portfolio in a draw and forget it until the end of the summer
.....and/or place your Buy limit orders and wait

Looking ominous. The view is that the US is heading for recession as the expected interest rate cuts over there are now too late.I can understand the pullback on the Nasdaq & Dow as stocks there are heavily overvalued. However, the UK stocks have, for the most part, not kept up with the US and are now also taking a hit.BP,Shell, and HSBC all had good results, and despite decent dividend announcements with buybacks in place, they are still sliding.Let's hope this is not the start of 2008 again as the property sector also looks fragile.

Funny how all the talk for months is a cut will be good for stocks but when it happens here, along with now almost nailed on to happen in September in the US, the markets start to look at the impact of the cuts / what that means for the economy and future earnings.

The talk stateside has also been around a soft landing but now it's looking a bit more bumpy that's for sure.

Good luck all 👍🏻

But that should be good news that the USA economy is dropping off, should mean upcoming interest rate drops.
