One last one of a fast burn could be NG. They're having a rights issue, and investing £50bn on upgrading the grid. Labour won't touch them with a barge pole, they're doing the heavy lifting themselves.

I think telecoms are a payer. Both are coming good and pay divis, admittedly VOD are reducing theirs, but it's still respectable. ITV is a good payer, and these are tough times for advertising so should get better. We're on the same wavelength I think!!

Not past it at all! My plan... loosely. Identify a share, keep investing until the smaller dividend can sustain us for a month and then move on to the next.I'm about there now, with a pension from a 34 year employer to fall back on.Aviva, bonds, TFIF, LGEN, PHNX and a TBD.It's also good for the grey matter to get in and identify what ma be next... just hard at the moment as the election has paused normality for the time being.

It's a brave person that listens to me!!I'm topping up MNG at the moment, watching PHNX to cross prices with AV.Then I'm only now, aged 55, investing in RL bonds of different flavours, plus TFIF for income.Have a nose, but AV. will always be my largest core holding, enough to live off comfortably.LGEN is also a large holding, but it's dead in the water drifting whilst the new CEO goes through his plan. What's your plan? Not that I am anyone, but don't give up on Aviva, it's a cracking share, it's the election that's done this today, iMHO.I expect that by the end of August we'll be raising a glass to market stability!?

US due a small correction and uk usually follows, although dynamics very diff in UK and Canada. Assuming labour wants to utilise pensions money, Hopefully they won't mess with any windfall taxes!! I'm very much in profit by 60% without dividend. I've let most of it run and am overweight but think it's a very solid business and should be reliable fir some time to come

Thing is mate, we heard it this morning... the divi is safe as long as the planet doesn't start fighting itself. I'm here for the divi, but am sat on a wedge bought at a great price. A loss is when you sell, a paper loss is just admin blah... as long as you have faith. It's not blind faith in this case the figures add up, but sentiment is not with us today or for the next couple of months until that budget. Hang tight, I think the wait will be worth it.I sold some I will admit, but that is to get my 25% lump sum out. It has dropped since I sold, but I'm out for at least 2 weeks before I can get it into our ISA and GIAs, where I will repurchase these shares and hopefully a few extra as an added bonus.

There is no financial news out there to stop this, imho. The election is not good news; To meuncertainty is here to stay until the polls strongly start showing who is going to win a majority. It almost managed to tread water, early am, but the sh!tty sentiment won, and that brilliant update is as good as it will get now, until after the immediate budget post election. To me this is a watching game, trying to find a price you feel is a bargain, then wait it out.

Aviva is a diversified player with fingers in basically all the pies. Bulk annuities are becoming a more important part of the story, and we see scope here for growth. The big general insurance business is also attractive given the market looks to be turning more favourable. We like the mix and see the 7.3% prospective forward yield as relatively attractive, though there are no guarantees.

I realise this is a bit off topic but I know a lot of holders of AV hold other high quality dividend shares and thought this might be of interest which I posted on Energean today:-

According to the above article the forecast DPS for 24 is $1.29 rising sharply to $2.05 for 25 and to $2.31 for 26 and at todays share price that would be a yield of over 15%.

I might be wrong, maybe Labour will resist! I've never chrystalised with II, but A J Bell took 2 weeks when I used them for my SIPP so that money will be out for an interesting 2 weeks before I get it into our ISAs.
