It seems that repairs to EV's are more expensive than ICE vehicles. Confirmed to me last week by a body shop guy. May explain some of the increase?

Well given a recent Motor Insurance renewal I was involved with I can only see motor insurance making healthy margins over the next few years.

As with the supermarkets before them momentum has changed from competing with each other for the lowest price
to competing with each other for the highest !

Until someone credible breaks ranks - and I cannot see that happening as if they all stand firm they all make money
its not going to change.

I say the supermarkets beat them too it.
Tesco started putting "price matched to Aldi" on their shelves
I knew some items in Aldi were actually cheaper in Tesco so went to buy at Tesco... whereupon I found that
they had indeed after a week or so put the price UP not down or left the same...

Cartel , what cartel ?

I hope that ADVFN will correct some numbers it has recorded under the heading "FINANCIALS" as the number of shares in issue is 2,738,750,917 as stated by the company today. That would give AVIVA a market capitalization of 11.461 billion more or less double advfn is showing.

I took advantage of the pull back yesterday on the Deutsche bank ranking in the sector as feel that their price targets are rather wild especially on PRU. Still feel that AVIVA has a lot of forward momentum and good to see our CEO present at the gathering at Windsor the other day with Sunak and all the high and mighty and elite of the financial world. They included Jamie Diamond of J.P. Morgan and Blackstone top brass.

A broker friends says that the "Broker" fraternity have an adjustment policy so that if they vary an earnings forecast change or variance of 5% then they change their position from a buy to hold or visa versa accordingly. Seems a bit weird to me but that is what they do apparently. Others here may have their own opinion or rationale in making these modest changes.

I’m so glad I didn’t choose commentating as a profession. Must be awful trying to think up something new or original to say to produce words for your editor.

That broker note makes no sense. They say Aviva is trading at a premium to LGEN which is bonkers.

The Times
"Elsewhere a downgrade from Deutsch Bank hit Aviva which dropped 9p . Analyst said the insurer had been a top performer in the sector but now reckon "" that the story may be running out of steam"

I'd be quite happy with the revised TP :-

Deutsche Bank cuts Aviva price target to 485 (495) pence - 'hold'

Oh, and happy to 'hold' :-)

Conduit has traded for almost three years. AV. bought 15% at the outset at £5. Today £4.71. 2021 and 2022 were difficult years for catastrophe reinsures, Conduit seemed to do OK as they established themselves. They have paid a dividend each year. Not sure why AV. would cut their stake by a third, the proceeds of which must have been c.£38m. I would have thought any serious holder would need 5 years at least for the business plan to mature, perhaps they know more about the book than is apparent to the rest of us, in which case why only sell a third?

Is there a possible link between this and AB's desire to get into Lloyds?

martyre...you are right to correct poster muscietrade over Conduit sale. It is Aviva that sold down at a reasonable price I believe. Conduit share price has been rising recently and is a credible name in the re-insurance market, and I hold a few.

And watch when that gap to their target price widens and they move back to Buy from Hold....
its a game to them played with other peoples cash and they need the market to be constantly
moving so they can play.

So Deutsche Bank 'Teenage Scribblers' think a prospective 15%+ rise in the AV share price only deserves a reduced recommendation of Hold from Buy; following a huge 2% reduction in their share price forecast !!!

If it's connected to the DB move to hold then it's an overaction in my opinion and a chance to top up which I just did.

Their price target is now 485 so a big jump still from where we were and certainly are now.

Good luck all 👍🏻
