13/3/2023 13:04 | Wall Street futures went from 380Plus last night to almost the same on the negative side right now. The FED and others need to steady the market with some supportive comments asap. Personally holding off any buying until clear signs of greater stability in the market. It could be a good opportunity for selective buying and I guess Citi are hoovering-up some buy-backs towards the £300 million committed to their program...Fridays purchases were just 2.39% of the target. The FED will almost certainly hold back on any interest rate increase at their next meeting according to Goldman Sachs, and I agree. However, will the market take that as a positive or a short term panic.....I personally think the former as Inflation will abate to a more acceptable level, but we will need to adapt to rates above 2%, maybe 4/5% in future. The US housing market is yet to see a marked downturn in activity and that will help turn present rates down.,hopefully. . | cyberian
13/3/2023 12:37 | Biggest portfolio holdings in 5, 6, 8 and 10 year maturity gilts - can't believe how much the price has moved up in a day. Bound to fall back some, but don't care because purchased them in late October last year at the peak (bottom?) of the Truss crisis. | eurofox
13/3/2023 12:29 | >Hyper inflation and 50% unemployment, this combination of a dead economy and high >inflation, it happened here in the 1970's. Some of us were in the Market in the 1970 !!! and still remember the lessons learned. QE is a tool for Central Banks and a drug for Politicians ...so much for an independent BoE !!! | 1robbob |
