04/11/2022 13:12 | My mistake. I was merely bemoaning the fact that pensions were taxed. Should never have posted non AV content. Let's move it on. spud | spud
04/11/2022 12:33 | What spud wants is to tax the poor when they need help the most the nhs is on its knees health and social care broken education in the toilet the list goes on. It’s not taxing those benefits that spud suggests or cutting them that’s going to solve the problem. A social care levy has to be introduced a rise in income tax and vat allowances on dividends and savings abolished etc its time to get real because when you have that heart attack do you want that ambulance turning up straight away or tomorrow at the earliest. | 123trev
04/11/2022 12:11 | Anybody watch question time last night! Lord Rose told it how it is we’re very sick we all need to take some medicine it’s not going to taste very nice but if we don’t take it now then we’re going to get a lot sicker. | 123trev
04/11/2022 12:04 | spud - to tax anything on an individual that would bring in worthwhile tax revenues that individual would have to be a tax payer - and ideally a higher rate payer. But I am sure that you know that. Thx anyway for the list. Turning to Aviva considering two scenarios for income: - writing put options at a low strike to reduce risk (tax free income to me). - buying Aviva Prefs with their current high yields (dividends are taxable to me). Have some nervousness about the current/upcoming recession and what it could do to the share price and also what the coming budget could do to dividends? Your views appreciated. May be a moment to wait a couple of weeks? | alphorn
04/11/2022 11:40 | I'm not going to commit to hours explaining as I'm sure your more than capable of finding out for yourself, allied to the fact that I'm sure yours was a rhetorical question. 04/11/2022 11:19 | spud - can you please expand how benefits are not taxed. | alphorn
04/11/2022 09:39 | It is a myth Thsnks to Gordon Brown. Dividends are NOT tax free within an ISA or Pension Fund. The Company paying the divi has already paid Corporation Tax on the amount of the dividend Prior ti GB divis were paid from pre tax profits and thus were genuinely tax free | 1robbob
04/11/2022 08:39 | Yes. Re-reading it, it came over ambiguously and I had to edit slightly. Fwiw, I'm only 6 years off eligibility.spud | spud
