Yes, it's a buy-the-dips ride into next year... hopefully. I'm an inveterate trader, but all too easy to be left standing in the current market, so playing it cautious right now.

Nice close - gone are the days of sell a few to buy back lower - too risky

Interesting late "O" trade at 335p for 100,000 shows some confidence and hopeful direction over coming weeks, and longer. Good wishes, and thanks for the wise posters here over recent months. Finished with a favourable auction, and I have decided not to trade any of my current holding...I did exit a few at 335p the other week before they hit 338p but lucky to buy back those I traded at 326.5p. I like the fundamentals here and believe that the new CEO is capable of making good her strategy and future plans.

I did not 'attack' him for bringing it up - I filtered him because he kept repeating the same drivel over and over until it became utterly boring. Now you're harping on about the same old news - are you two by any chance related?

I would assume that the Allianz/Athora deal is on the backburner given that exclusivity ended at the end of October and there has been no news. This would mean that the data rooms would have had to be reopened to other interested parties and that would normally be for a month or so. Following access to the data rooms there would be a bidding/negotiating process ....... so I agree, news before the new year would be surprising - especially since there are multiple operating companies in Aviva France, meaning different data rooms and a mix of interested parties who may be looking at the whole French operation or just parts of it.

Bit by bit, it's breaking away from the FTSE, perhaps the trackers have less impact with more independent trade (long funds) taking place.

Fitzgerald's analysis sounds sensible.

He even mentions the degradation of money and being positioned with gold.
