30/11/2020 21:55 | Someone on the PHOENIX board (PHNX got whacked big time today) described today's uncrossing trade at close as 'a little heavy' due to 'the MSCI index promotion'. You can see it clobber AVIVA a little at close as well. Anyone know what MSCI is? Just realised I should be asking this on the PHNX board ;0) | ![]() cassini
30/11/2020 21:24 | hxxps://players.brig The Citi analyst asked about the Golden ticket in the 3rd Qtr Q&A and the CFO appeared relatively relaxed in his reply ,think it was about 29/30 mins into the presentation. | ![]() jomac2412
30/11/2020 20:56 | There are I think four french entities and multiple underlying sub funds so the basic premise that France is a single entity is flawed. That’s my suspicion as to why they are relaxed about it. With profit funds with guarantees got in trouble as all business inc gtees were lumped together in single funds. I think it’s not correct to say the discount to nav is because this is a known quantified issue. It is however correct that the co could do a better job of explaining why it’s not an issue but that would probably be prejudicial. | ![]() cjac39
30/11/2020 20:20 | The above Forbes article is from 2015 , makes interesting reading , apparently worst case scenario would be him ending up owning Aviva France(which would be bad enough for us shareholders) but should't affect parent company. See below extract from article- Now, this will not affect the entire Aviva group. Well, it will affect it, but not involve it. For there is, in law, absolutely no requirement for a parent company to stand by a subsidiary. Limited liability really does mean limited liability. So, while Aviva France is perhaps 20% of the Aviva group, the maximum damage is to Aviva France, not the whole group. There is absolutely no, none, zip, nada, requirement for the parent company to come to the aid of the subsidiary. There might be useful business reasons (which are likely to be unpersuasive if you've a life insurance contract that is eating the company from within) but there're no legal ones. | ![]() jomac2412
30/11/2020 20:06 | I did read your post fully. There is no 'perhaps' because the situation is widely known and has been for years. Whether that 'explains' the discount to NAV is another matter. I suggest that there are few shares that are not currently available at a 'discount' due to current circumstances - CV19 & Brexit. The 'Golden Ticket' is likely to of relatively minor consideration, imo. | ![]() woodhawk
30/11/2020 19:51 | I don't think you read my post fully WH. I was alluding to a possible explanation as to why the price was at a discount to NAV. spud | spud
30/11/2020 19:45 | "Perhaps this Special Contract was already known to the wider Market" - Of course it was/is. It has featured in major newspaper articles and court cases for YEARS. Try and be realistic. | ![]() woodhawk
30/11/2020 19:36 | Maybe it's the equivalent of the ground rent doubling every 10 years scam. Eventually the yearly ground rent becomes more valuable than the property. | ![]() waterloo01
30/11/2020 19:34 | Auditors not even qualifying the accounts and CFO is laid back about it. Also AB bought a million quids worth and she might just know what's going on too! I came to the conclusion why should I worry. | ![]() ianood
30/11/2020 19:30 | Perhaps this Special Contract was already known to the wider Market & IIs, hence the discount to NAV. spud | spud

30/11/2020 16:32 | WS and to some extent here investors are just closing out their monthly profit...tomorrow a new start with some further good news/developments on the vaccine front and hopefully a BREXIT deal....the next few days should be quite exciting. Also a more civil tongue and pragmatic agenda globally in the White House next year...Biden has a tough agenda ahead but a lot of goodwill...hope he rises to the challenge. | ![]() cyberian
