Certainly not keen on the lunch break idea...

Milliethedog;

Rather reminds me of the good old maxim that company damage could be minimised by ensuring the marketing department spent as much time as possible on holiday or on training courses.

Aye it’s pants I seen that so many negative changes last 3 ,4 year with a few sites trying to make life difficult for private investors

And just to add to the bad news....... The London Stock Exchange have redesigned their site this morning, in a way which makes it almost impossible to do a quick skim of the company RNS issued today. Whoever thought the new site was an improvement obviously has a future on the Aviva board.

I should have explained that it was the gross cost of a large shared freehold property under a management company structure...ours relatively small, but acquired 30 years back...values do rise unfortunately!! Anyway, on Aviva it looks as though the turmoil in the USA will not help our opening tomorrow.

Is it house only or house and (very high value) contents?

Cyberian,

"the highest quote was £1,000 higher than what we settled on and the lowest was £400 cheaper.".

Do you have a large country estate with twenty bedrooms? ;0) I can get house insurance for <£200. Mind you, I never made it big in life ;0(

My view on the Board personalities at the recent AGM was not inspiring...however, things may change as the Institutions will be on their case very soon unless they shape up PDQ. The general business sectors within AV. are OK in my opinion and therefore there has to be some senior and middle level managers who really are top notch. We just renewed our house cover with Aviva after huge swings with other credible and well known insurance names...the highest quote was £1,000 higher than what we settled on and the lowest was £400 cheaper...BUT, the latter did not match-up with the specific details required, and provided by us....rather unprofessional. So, I guess others on this BB will have less favourable experiences to explain, but I have high hopes that the ridiculous low share price will encourage some buyers as the current P/E ratio is silly, and the financial strength is extremely strong and more so after the cancelled dividend. The Board has made great play on this and with others I am sure that the dividend will return in 4Q if not sooner. There is far more risk in other sectors while we see off this dreaded virus, and hopefully value, and a more favourable sentiment will be seen in AVIVA over the coming months.

Yep the fall in share price is more due to the incompetence of the board and dividend than the actual impact of covid. That’s fine with me though as I’ll enjoy the profits on the results.

Although luckily I’m in sub 240 and not someone who has hold since £4+ otherwise I would be very annoyed.

It Aviva had paid the dividend, the S/p would be around £3.20 now. Alot of income investors have sold out. Why couldn't they paid half the dividend, if L@g could have afforded to pay a full dividend, Aviva could have paid 50% of a dividend.

Correct me if I’m wrong . According to company , Av. exposure to COVID-19 claims is circ. £150m .

That does not justify a 40% drop in share price or cancellation of dividend payment given its more then covered and others have paid out. Claims on burglary and car related have dropped significantly.

So why has this not recovered.

I’m a long term holder now and not by choice.

I can take price collapse it’s nothing I haven’t seen before and I’m certain I’ll see my money back then some, in 3-4 years time .

A company size of Aviva deserves better management

Hmm what’s up I’m afraid to say I think you need to av down a bit as it will be a long road back to 470

I have little choice given I’m in at 470p. What I don’t like is double talk with this board . He is absolutely the wrong guy for top job , a company this size deserves a heck of a lot better. I stated that he was the second or third choice when he actually got the top job.

Government desire for insurers not to pay dividends to shareholders must have been music to his ears.

Who wouldn’t want to hold onto £750m

I think you overestimate how much the institutions can influence. Av is majority traded by etfs and index funds and quant funds as ftse100 co. V little activist engagement.

Stepping back it looks like consensus is we are all grumpy with mgmt but valuation is so daft we’ll stick with it especially if they restart divi but dump it as soon as possible. For me this is 350p.

.. and if it was up to the IIs, I've no doubt that they want to see the end of retail traders, because let's face it many of us who are LT holders are also traders
