30/11/2012 17:28 | Geheimnis2 I don't have a problem with once a month being 'ridiculous' if you say so, but they did put out three during March 2012 but none since. The point was you have to question the financial and strategical wisdom of a 'No update' policy. | johncsimpson
30/11/2012 17:00 | SC is buying them back I'm led to believe. fair play - he called them to 200p.. buy them back between 230 and 215.. done OK | ![]() verymaryhinge

30/11/2012 16:05 | johncsimpson, it is £11m per month of 'new Backlog' contracts (see 4th bullet under Financial Highlights in the results RNS on 10/10/12). AVN decided early this year it would no longer announce individual contract wins - "Other than these announcements, only matters which are strategically or financially significant to the company will be announced separately via the stock exchange". See www.avantiplc.com/ne Whether we agree or not with this policy is another matter! :-) | garymott
30/11/2012 15:06 | as soon as the phrase, 'this company is diseased' was mentioned on this board a few days ago, it was evidently time to top up! | ![]() edwardt
30/11/2012 14:42 | Simon Cawkwell may have been right last year but I think most would be more than happy to see him wrong this time. | ![]() yorgi

30/11/2012 14:08 | sg31 30 Nov'12 - 09:53 - 11420 of 11425 1 0 Avanti recently signed a $23.9m, five-year deal with CommCarrier, a Kenyan telecoms carrier, to provide back-up connections Nice. -------------------- That was 6th March 2012. Since then precious few announcements. I found these only on their website: Avanti signs contract with Onyx Group Limited 23 March, 2012 Avanti Communications Group Plc (AIM: AVN), the satellite operator, is pleased to announce that it has signed a contract for the provision of Business Internet Continuity services within the UK from its HYLAS 1 satellite with Onyx Group Lim Avanti signs contract with Ethnet Limited 23 March, 2012 Avanti Communications Group plc, the satellite operator, announces the sale of capacity on HYLAS 1 to satellite broadband provider, Ethnet Limited ("Ethnet") in a three year deal worth a minimum of £660k. AVN has reiterated this £11m per month sales target being met. So does this equate to eleven 'contracts' at £1m, five at two and a bit, two at five and a half etc.? How much is new business as opposed to extensions of existing contracts or top ups? And re sales, and most bizarrely, just how difficult (and / or time consuming) is it to update the markets on a regular basis? | johncsimpson

30/11/2012 12:33 | Came across this interesting blog re Avanti and providing transmission for the new local TV companies in the UK (pet project of the Gov't). It's a bit technical, but the bottom line is that Avanti are the only solution that actually covers where the local tv companies cover. If Ofcom goes with the other providers using the big national infrastructure, there's a lot of areas that are supposed to be covered by the new channels that won't receive them - that's going to hit their revenue and therefor the chances of success for the whole project. Worth a read as it's an interesting new way for Avanti to sell more capacity. | ![]() ae34

29/11/2012 23:24 | John, Something like that, although I think my memory serves me wrong and it was Cenkos whose note mentioned the decimal point. Geh, I think you may have missed that there are two other posts last week on the link supplied by AA29, on top of the two original blogs last month. I think there are some reasonable comments, not to mention the lowering of forcasts by certain brokers. | gorvachof |
