Directors of Avanti Communications continue to fill their boots with stock. Shares of the broadband satellite operator rose 2.25p to 253.75p after chief executive David Williams bought 10,000 at 250p. This followed Paul Walsh's purchase of 20,000 at 253p. Charles Stanley rates the stock a strong buy as its valuation ratios look low in comparison with their peer group. Avanti will develop into a significant operator.

If you look carefully Divinausa you will see the RNS should have been posted by ADVFN a few days ago....we did discuss it on here the day it was released to the market.

The funding of 75,000,000 pounds at 280p was 1 month ago!!!!!!!!!

The city boys thought they had done well...........and directors too who bought £23k each.......additional to the buys this week!

This is going to return to 300p plus, just as soon as the seller leaves the room.

middle east/africa is where the real dosh is, and its literally 25 years away from getting constant electricity to most outlinning places, let alone broadband.

Willaims keeps making the point that Avanti will have 80pc of the broadband capacity there by 2015.

Growth and few competitors hence the Kenya deal yesterday.

RWilliams57; if you're a holder, you'll know that satellite broadband for rural customers is only one of the four markets that AVN sells to and that for rural satellite broadband in Europe, Nellie Kroes the EU telecoms commissioner estimates that the potential market is 10 million people in the EU alone. Even if Avanti only sold to rural broadband customers it can't handle even 5% of this demand in Europe. It's clearly tomorrow's technolgy

It would be better if you stopped posting listless comments and contrbuted to the debate.

Yes it was me who spoke of the seller after seeing the constant pressure the share was under on L2 for weeks.

Cenkos confirmed there appeared to be an orderly seller in the market and until they decided to stop selling or run out of shares, the share price would remain anaemic.

Director buy (Walsh) of £50k mentioned in the Times today, followed up by Williams this morning, should ensure a bounce back soon. Bought £25k today for a trade to 350p.

So today the market is distinctly up, 2 directors have bought shares, and the stock price is pretty static. There have been some contract wins recently.

What is going on?

I'm long term too - been known to hold for a week . . .

GaryMott - It's had a good run recently but FKL (with a good dividend) is in (and out of) my SIPP but I've got no horizon left.

It's only my opinion but think about how you deploy your new funds. Look at staged investments - you don't have to commit it all at once and certainly not all to the same share.

Thanks for the advice. I also have some AVN in a CFD which was very much in profit, now only slightly. Don't won't to take more short term risk just in case. I am convinced though that, assuming a successful Hylas 2 launch, the share price will be much higher in 6 months, 1 and 2 years.

Regarding my SIPP, I also plan to buy other more mature, 'less risky' shares such as Aviva with over 7% yield (good results today). That and a bit of share price rise should easily achieve 100-200% profit in 11 years.

...or you could go long on a spread bet now to lock in the price.

and when your SIPP money gets transferred in you can then decide to buy with those proceeds (within the SIPP) then.

in the mean time you will have (hopefully) locked in a profit with the spreadbet and can decide to close or not at that point....the proceeds of that could then be transferred into you SIPP also if you like.

Obviously I am assuming that the price will rise but, provided you uses sensible stops (guaranteed) then your risk should be limited.

Last year I opened a SIPP and put some AVN in it (at £3.18). I have an 11 year time horizon. I am planning to transfer an AVC pension to my SIPP but this will take a few weeks. So I hope that the share price stays at this low level for at least a few more weeks so I can buy more at this price for my long term SIPP.
