23/2/2011 15:06 | Just to further illustrate my point Avanti could sell 10mb to a broadband reseller and then the broadband reseller would sell that band width to a pool of residential consumers as a 10mb connection ... but the only way a residential consumer would get 10mb would be if they are the only one using the resellers service Its one of the complaints levelled at all broadband resellers, i.e. because of contention ratios you always get less than the maximum connection advertised ... hence the connection is always advertised as "up to" Check your own connection and you will see for yourself ... So it basically means all Simon's numbers are completely wrong :-) | marksnsparkle
23/2/2011 15:03 | Gentlemen, My informant further opines: "Satellite Broaband Ireland recently announced a EUR 5m contract with Eutelsat on the VNO model where they can control the service levels (so equivalent to option 2 I think). So this is not a distinguishing selling point (and even if it were I don't see why the pricing would be materially different as they are still ultimately having to resell it in competition with Eutelsat's standard 10mb offer). And, to be clear, my argument is not that Avanti can only offer a 2mb service. They can offer whatever speed they like but (a) the faster the service the fewer the customers they can serve and (b) their cost of providing any service when compared with ka-sat is several times higher." So the argument to short Avanti is reinforced. Simon Cawkwell | ![]() simon cawkwell
23/2/2011 15:00 | I don't see Cawkwell retracting it or admitting he did not understand the business plan. | ![]() yorgi
23/2/2011 14:58 | As I commented earlier I would like to know what TW has said to him !!! Apart from holding in one of his funds he has only recently tipped it ! | ![]() yorgi
23/2/2011 14:54 | He's been using a very similar tactic "Dodgey Dossier" on PDX also FSA should be told about his current attempt.. with particular reference to the fact that he is preading misleading info - see marksnsparkle's post 3336 above. | undertaker
23/2/2011 14:50 | restassured ... to be honest I just don't think Simon understands broadband Contention ratios ... i.e. my broadband provider Sky sells me an 8mb connection for £17 a month ... but as with all other broadband providers the small print reads up to 8mb ... i.e. I only get 8mb's if nobody else is using the service | marksnsparkle
23/2/2011 14:32 | not to mention this one from an RNS dated Friday 21 January, 2011 ... "Avanti's systems can provide consumer broadband services at speeds of 10Mb per second at competitive prices, and other wholesale services at up to 200Mb." ... So Simon Cawkwell post is factual incorrect ... over to you Simon :-) | marksnsparkle
23/2/2011 14:26 | Remembered this ... Simon Cawkwell says Avanti are only offering a 2mb service via Hylas 1 But at the bottom of this RNS it clearly states ... "Avanti sells satellite broadband services at speeds of up to 10Mbps to telecoms companies which use them to supply residential, enterprise and institutional users." ... | marksnsparkle
23/2/2011 13:42 | Restassured Hello ? | ![]() yorgi
23/2/2011 13:41 | a vectra! damn, and you have the nerve to get personal about a bacofoil covered Xbox in the sky! you will probbaly feel better once you get rid of the car superg1, get a Fiesta or something. | chrissey
23/2/2011 13:37 | Rest I give up with you, you just seem plain paranoid bonkers. He's a crook. A shorter. works in packs. I'VE NOT BOUGHT, SOLD OR MADE ONE CENT OUT OF AVANTI. I LOOKED DIDN'T LIKE WHAT I SAW, AND WARNED PI'S. IT@S THAT SIMPLE. ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH Find me on iii where I ever tagged a post as sell. All I warned about was buying post launch and I was right. Manipulating shares, etc etc can be an offence and in my occupation would cost me well over a million in pension rights. A real big money man me. That's why I was digging my own drains in the back garden. Fitting an RSJ for the first time and fitting the kitchen myself as I can't afford the cost of kitchen fitters. Depressed just thinking about it all and just returned from my NHS dentist. Clapped out vectra on the drive. Great real and quit the ridiculous comments | ![]() superg1
23/2/2011 13:34 | Just topped up again at 540p as I think there isn't much downside left despite the above comments. This market can be fickle and as I am taking a minimum 2 year view. | ![]() 2vdm
23/2/2011 13:28 | I'm not being personal about anyone yorgi but you have to admit, this is a bit of a 'we are the avn cheerleaders' type bb! and this is coming from a holder! for the record, I haven't sold any (wish I had but that is with that wonderful thing called hindsight) and I will buy more if they go to 500p, it's as simple as that. | chrissey
23/2/2011 13:27 | Lol it is really bad isn't it? 14th february 2011 Outlook HYLAS 1 will be brought into commercial service in March, and as a result we are finding that sales opportunities with large international telecoms companies are becoming easier to generate. We therefore remain highly confident that we can fill our satellites within the three and five year ramp up targets previously discussed, and at attractive prices. | ![]() restassured
23/2/2011 13:22 | Would that be me your calling a zealot Chrissey ? | ![]() yorgi
23/2/2011 13:18 | Gordon Bennett when are you goping to realise I'm just an ordinary low level investor that hasn't got a clue who Mr Cawkwell is. Great post by the way as it in some way explains the hidden problems I can't see. I sense trouble too, along with wrong doings between AVN and III. III compliace team are 2 months into the investigation. I have held off re city of London Police but they want the full details. A N other has supplied me with a full report of their findings of suspicious activity and it is just acse of clicking send. Something is up, I hadn't considered what is posted but it seems valid. You are so deluded into this gang thing or is it in fact the 'hypesters' here that are the gang. That's waht it seems like to me. Presuming they have all registered with true ID's and accounts, ordinary PI's will be identified and those close to Avanti will be identified too. Simon You clearly see the sense here, if you want to see our combined findings of suspicious activity woody137@live.co.uk | ![]() superg1
23/2/2011 12:50 | We are days away from a full "power up" of Hylas 1. They have almost three quarters of a billion dollars of contracts and pipeline. Far exceeding expectations at this stage. Hara-kiri anyone? I will stick with facts and the £25 plus price targets from two brokers. | ![]() restassured
23/2/2011 12:37 | He could offer him a cream bun over a cup of coffee :-) | ![]() yorgi
23/2/2011 12:36 | It does Restassured it does......I would love to know what TW is saying to him :-) | ![]() yorgi |
