The results are due out tomorrow but are the figures already available. I have just noticed that Tom Bulford is already quoting at T/O of £5.8m with aloss of £2m. Have these figures already been published?

Thanks

Julcester 3104 - thats a great spot. It all adds to the expectation that all is going to plan and that AVN will be able to confirm a date that commercial services commence - ideally on Monday. Just a shame these are not ISA ble.

John W,

Your right I didn't think we would be seeing 600p again, let alone back in the 500p's yesterday although only briefly so I was well wrong there. Like many companies the share price does not always reflect the true worth of a company and I believe this is the case now I only hope I'm right.

Holding on hoping today is the begining of the rise back to xxxxp thought that was safer.

Regards

Yorgi

Splendid finish after a few strange days and hopefully the seller has had enough!

Techinvest napped AVN at 660p just a few weeks ago! So plenty of scope for upward movement.

Well done if you got in below £6!

Ha, I thought that they wouldn't be seeing 600p back in December Yorgi!
Let's hope you are right though.
I must admit to being somewhat down of late, seeing the drip drip of so many of my portfolio.
Oh well, a lovely finish today, at any rate.

All the best,
John W

True leluot, but it wasn't possible to buy at that price. I tried hard but couldn't get a quote online or on the phone.

Thanks Julcester - very helpful post

Just goes to show that at 575p yesterday this was an unbelievable bargain.

The best is still to come. I like the broker who goes for a 10 year sp!!! Lets hope we all live that long.

Article from yesterday...

Satellite broadband is not everything to everybody, but it could be crucial for helping the government create a Digital Britain, says Chris Britton

Satellite broadband has long been proposed as a way to address Europe's digital divide, going some way to solving Europe's connectivity problems by providing Internet access in remote areas of the continent. However, only since the launch of Avanti's HYLAS 1 satellite in November 2010 has this become a realistic option within the context of 21st-century expectations.

The HYLAS 1 is a hybrid Ka-band/Ku-band satellite, offering interactive broadband services to 23 countries across Europe. Built by British-based company Avanti, HYLAS 1 uses a 28GHz high-frequency signal, which has good penetration and offers download speeds of roughly 8Mbps.

Where older satellite services required a separate back channel over a phone line, which was very slow, satellite broadband using the Ka-band can have a back channel provided through the satellite. This uses a low-power transmitter on the user's satellite dish, with about half the speed of the downlink.

Plugging broadband not-spots... (article continues)

I think a lot of people are ignoring all this Julcester, as you say "significant revenue very soon"

thanks Julcester, so El Molino Systems are offering up tp 8Mbps DL and 2.5Mbps UL for 25 GBP seems very competitive especially as here I´m paying more than twice that for 10Mbps with Movistar (includes national calls and land line rental of course) although cheaper exists but they tend to be less reliable (ie Jazztel).

"... but with the imminent arrival of HYLAS 1 and its 10Mb satellite broadband available to every home in the UK, there are now cost effective options available to the consumer."

So is it 10Mbps or 5 or what ?

¿Could anyone tell me the upload/download speeds that the Hylas 1 sat ought to provide?

I had a quick look at the co´s web pages but couldn´t find this info. The info on its FAQs page is very vague and as such gives no specific info wrt speeds.

Edit
according to the link below "These services provide high-speed direct access to the internet backbone at a range of speeds currently up to 3Mbps download / 768kbps upload" but then it states lower down the page "upto 5 Mbps/ 1.5Mbps upload"

Are these speeds right?
TIA

you guys that topped up yesterday got a bargain. As soon as it is announced that commercial services have started I can see the share price at £7 plus within no time.

Wish I had more to invest - this looks like a golden opportunity!!
