06/12/2010 14:40 | Probably about a second, horneblower: You won't be gaming over it but it's fine for reading the news, e-mail, you-tube and pretty much everything else on the 'net. | ![]() peetle

06/12/2010 14:36 | There are certainly many hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people in the UK alone whose best broadband speed is less than 1mbps (as is mine and I live near Southampton). There's a huge market out there so long as the service is good and the speed the equivalent of 2mbps or more. A lack of customers is the last thing to worry about...unless the latency is severe. What signal delay are we talking about? | ![]() horneblower
06/12/2010 14:34 | Just added another 2,500 at 691.50p given the 5% retrace since sucessful launch on 26th November. | ![]() adorling
06/12/2010 14:20 | The share price here has surprised me this last week and after three new contracts aftet launch going perfectly to plan I would have exepected us to have made more progress but as I said earlier the company is doing well we now just need to share price to reflect this.....it will of that I'm quite sure | ![]() yorgi
06/12/2010 13:25 | DW has given the company a lot of good PR recenlty but guess he can't be there always ! | ![]() yorgi
06/12/2010 13:25 | sandbank -- on signal quality comparisons with good landline broadband I agree - the latency and other weather-related issues won't prompt any/many to swap to satellite by choice. But for those who don't have a choice (and they are surely Avanti's main market in the next few years?) I imagine there are users for whom the to/fro signal lag is perfectly tolerable, and other users for whom it isn't a serious issue at all. Financial corporations and others for whom fast signals are crucial will already be located in areas where they know they can get the signal they need. | m.t.glass
06/12/2010 13:24 | Lots of comment on the need for broadband in rural areas this morning on the news but absolutely no mention about satellite bradband and Avanti-seems an opportunity missed by the company. | blue forever
06/12/2010 13:11 | "The Best Broadband in Europe" BBC News: £830m is going to be spent on superfast broadband in the UK by 2015. | ![]() pixi

06/12/2010 11:09 | Contracts are being won and signed and we can relax in the knowledge that the share price WILL respond to that fact in time. I really don't think Fridays RNS was at the least anything to be concerned about. | ![]() yorgi
06/12/2010 11:03 | Exactley Restassured :-) David Williams has got this far without our advice I'm quite sure he is going to take AVN a lot further yet. | ![]() yorgi

06/12/2010 10:46 | Regarding the lack of numbers on todays announcement, it could be the company contracting with Avanti did not want details of the financial arrangements to be published.Often happens. | blue forever
06/12/2010 08:56 | There is a finite amout of space available on Hylas-1. I wouldn't want Avanti rushing to sign up customers just to quickly fill it. They can afford to be choosy, and should be, and doubtless will be. | m.t.glass
06/12/2010 07:57 | It is the trend that is important. They are announcing several deals a week at the moment. | ![]() restassured
06/12/2010 07:54 | Good Morning Ib and other AVN enthusiasts. Yes just what we would like to see on a Monday morning and I agree with Ib it would have been nice to see some numbers but whether large or small if we have enough they will all add up | ![]() yorgi
06/12/2010 07:19 | Morning all, nice enough start to the week -Would have liked to see a cash value or estimate on this contract though | ![]() ib1905
06/12/2010 07:17 | I think that we are going to see a stream of contract wins over the weeks and month ahead. This will drive the share price substantially higher,as investors start waking up to the money making potential of Avanti. | ![]() restassured
06/12/2010 07:02 | Contract Win Avanti Communications Group plc (AIM: AVN) ("Avanti" or the "Company"), the broadband satellite operator, is delighted to announce that it has signed a 3 year managed services contract with the Spanish service provider NASSAT - Network & Satellite Systems de Espaa. Avanti services will be delivered via its HYLAS 1 satellite, successfully launched into orbit on November 26th 2010. NASSAT provides satellite communication services, mainly to enterprise and media customers, but it also has specialist contracts with fire services and television stations. As well as fixed services it has transportable and quickly deployable systems for civil and government customers where demand continues to rise for cost effective bandwidth. Commenting, David Williams, Avanti Chief Executive, said: "I am delighted that NASSAT as a provider of such specialist and critical satellite services has selected Avanti as its partner. It demonstrates the value of the flexibility and speed which HYLAS 1 can offer and I am pleased to see sales momentum in the enterprise and media sector continuing to grow following our successful satellite launch." | ![]() goneawol
06/12/2010 00:36 | Daniel Stewart - target 2519 from 1111p Cenkos, house broker - target 2300p. Any of those in a few years time will do me fine. For what its worth: I was also "hit" during the 2000 techie boom. What saved me was I did not sell. I saw the value of my holdings fall, but that is the nature of the game. The same thing happened a few years ago, but things have recovered today. Forget about trying to be an overnight daytrading success, it is unlikely to happen. Hold for the long term and you are likely to succeed. Most people think they can outwit the market, but they just end up keeping their brokers afloat with commission. Then you have to think about paying your accountant to cover all of your trading activity for your tax return. Believe me, daytrading is a waste of time and money and spreadbetting is the fastest way to lose money known to man. | ![]() pixi

05/12/2010 18:04 | Hi all - all a bit calmer now after last weekend's excitement. I am hoping we might see a couple more bits of news re contracts this week and also an update on how the tests on HL1 are going? That would hopefully settle the share price back in an upward trend. As an aside I think a couple of people were having probs with their broadband disconnecting a few days ago. Well I was briefly disconnected this weekend with Virgin Media and managed to stay connected with a T-mobile pay as you go dongle - £21 at Asda and for £2 a day if you get 3g in your area it's a good alternative. Of course AVN's will be much better than that in due course!! | ![]() ib1905

04/12/2010 16:35 | Great news about the successful launch and a predictable sell off down to 700 from the profit-takes but this still seems to have some way to go... Have been following this also on | davemurphy |
