ib - yep, it's a subject which divides threads. I see no reason whatsover to ramp a gold miner on a telecoms thread but these threads are a democracy so if that's what you want here then who am I to argue.

As a result of certain extra design activities during manufacture HYLAS 1 has higher performance than the original design provided for and is able to offer certain new services. We will analyse the precise performance characteristics of the satellite in these operating modes before commercial service commences.

Afraid I agree with Scott Smarm -remember he completed a very thorough, helpful and on the money analysis of Avanti which he made freely available and which I know many found helpful - have a look back over posts on the last 3 Sundays when peeps are bored and there's lots of talk of who likes what. Take it or leave it I say but this board has pretty much been polite and why stop now.

got a share for you guys, its a gold miner so obviously high risk in some aspects.

Cluff Gold hugely undervalued compared to comparable companies and the ceo is very well renowned.

Just thought i would put that out there for anyone interested in mining shares.

well, like was expected, traders will make some money short term and the successful launch is only the first step.

we need confiramtion of full deployment and 100% functionality to see the re-rating.

people need to be patient and take advantage, if they can, to buy on weak days.

I can see sub 700p as we head forward but the trading update will be interesting if it reveals further contract gains and/or opportunities.

Does anyone know how users will connect to HYLAS broadband? Will they/we be able to logon just like Wifi or is a satellite dish required?

I don't really understand why people are selling out at this stage, particularly as Avanti Comms are announcing their half year results tomorrow and briefing analysts on the latest news. The news will,no doubt,give us the latest update on the operational testing of the satellite. I believe this will dictate the immediate direction of where the share is going. I can't see the point of jumping ship now -- hang on for at least another 24 hours.

Our trader who was selling regularly 25,000 in the week of the launch is now buying back his stake. He sold 2,000,000 before launch and has so far bought back 3x25,000 so plenty of buys lined up to soak up the profit takers.

VAD outfit Computerlinks has announced plans to provide a suite of business internet continuity services for UK resellers to push from the first quarter of 2011. The services will be delivered using Avanti Communication's Hylas 1 satellite, which was launched into space on Friday 26th November.

The Alvea business internet continuity service will be available to UK resellers from February 2011, exclusively through Computerlinks. The service will enable the channel to deliver solutions designed to eliminate the loss of revenues and productivity caused by a failure in internet connectivity for businesses.

Computerlinks was appointed sole distributor for Avanti's portfolio of business Internet continuity services in August 2010. Following the satellite launch, Computerlinks will begin testing the suite of business Internet continuity services it has developed within its Alvea channel services. Full details of the services will be announced to resellers in February 2011.

I am sure that there were a bunch of people taking a punt on a bounce upon launch, who will exit over the next few days.

There is a presentation to analysts tomorrow, and the progress towards full commissioning to come. Hopefully that will keep us moving in the right direction.

I bought them all Avanti shares as their Christmas presents.

Now the satellite is in orbit the shares have significantly de risked.

I expect a stready stream of positive newsflow to drive the share price higher over the next weeks and months.
